A Few Of My Favorite Things

Lest you think I only complain, I will share some places/products that I do enjoy!

1. Space Bags - I am normally skeptical of anything "Seen On TV," but this particular product does what it says. I can cram a comforter, throw pillows, shams and dust ruffle into a big space bag, zipper it up, and suck the air out with my vacuum hose and voila! A thin package is produced that can be shoved under a bed. This is a must for those of us with little closet space.

2. Mr. Clean Magic Erasers - They really do work magic on the dirty fingerprints and scuff marks that the kids leave all over the walls. The only problem I've found is that you can't use the erasers on dark colored painted walls as they leave behind a chalky substance that you can't wipe off. Then instead of dark marks, you have these chalky marks on your desert taupe walls.

3. Panera Bread - Because they serve my favorite food and drinks in the universe. Where else can I get a non-fat latte and a chocolate chip bagel or blueberry scone?? And their tomato soup is to die for with the asiago cheese croutons. I'm also delighted with the light fixtures and colors they paint their walls. I could sit in there all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

4. The Public Library - Free books, movies and CD's. And you can sit at home and order just about anything through their on-line service and get an e-mail when it's ready to be picked up. At our library, you can check yourself out and avoid the embarrassment of handing the librarian a book entitled, "Sex Begins In the Kitchen." AND if your computer breaks down, you can stop in and check your e-mail on one of their computers. And again, it's all FREE!

So, there you have it. I can be complimentary as well.

  1. Cocotte, I like Panera Bread too. Love the free wifi. I don't eat carbs all that often, but lemme tell you, their baguettes with seasoned dipping oil is deeelicious!

Great article! Sometimes it's good to deliberately think positive.

  2. Thanks for reading and commenting SW! I have never noticed seasoned dipping oil on the menu board, but that sounds mighty tasty to bring home and share with my husband (along with a glass of vino on the side). Thanks for the idea.

  3. As a former employee of many different libraries, I salute you for your appreciation of public libraries.

Now if the libraries would just start serving Panera Bread, we'd be all set.

  4. Thanks for the salutation FTN! One of my most cherished childhood summertime memories is of the county library bookmobile stopping at the corner near my house every other Wednesday afternoon. We were limited to four books, so you had to choose wisely!

  6. MM,
How do you repack without the vacuum cleaner attachment? I like your idea though, esp. now that airlines are charging for checked baggage.....maybe use the space bags in carry ons!
Thanks for stopping by.....I just found your blog this morning and plan to return to read more.

  7. Hmmm, did everyone else just pass by that last book you checked out? Guess I'll have to start visiting libraries again.

  8. Yes Joe, you'd be surprised what libraries carry these days to satisfy our hungry appetites!

Actually, the book is not as illicit as it sounds. It's by Dr. Kevin Leman who also wrote, "Sheet Music."
