'Tis the season, folks! In honor of our wedding anniversary this weekend, I've concocted a list of random reasons it's lasted this long, and of course, why I love my husband so much! I was going to make this more clever and amusing, but I wanted to convey my sincerity about how very happy he makes me. Here goes:1. He notices and thanks me for all the things I do, especially when I do it just for him (such as cutting the grass or doing an extra load of his laundry).
2. He has supported all my career choices in the past and has encouraged me in my hobbies and other interests.
3. He has never complained about being the sole bread winner, once we had kids.
4. He used to take the kids off my hands when they were young, so I could have some time to myself. He still understands that sometimes, I need to get away from the house and spend time with friends.
5. He has taken me on the best vacations and we've stayed at some really fantastic places. Our 10th and 20th anniversaries are some of our best memories of being together.
6. He's scored us tickets to U2 the past two times they've been in town. And this was just for me, since I'm the fan, not him.
7. He's never forgotten a birthday or special holiday and he never fails to buy me something special from Victoria's Secret or the like on Valentine's Day.
8. He has been the best father our kids could ever ask for. He never misses a concert, game, or performance that the kids have participated in and has coached countless teams for them.
9. He has always put me and the kids first. I've never had to worry about where he is or what he's doing. He is a loving, faithful man.
10. He always stands up for me, even against his own family. He fully comprehends the "leave and cleave" part of marriage.
11. He actually asks me to go to Lowe's with him. He says he just enjoys my company! How sweet is that? And he puts up with my dumb questions while we're there, too!
12. The sex? Let's just say I'm always ready and willing..........
Happy Anniversary Honey!!
I'd say those are 12 fantastic reasons. Speaking for men everywhere, thanks for being appreciative of your husband in that way.
ReplyDeleteWe are big fans of being appreciated, as you've probably noticed.
This is a fantastic list, and I hope he enjoys knowing just how much he means to you. I'm sure he does, for it sounds like you have a fantastic and strong marriage.
ReplyDelete(in fact, minus the U2 concert tickets part, because they never come near me, dammit, this is similar to what I could share about my own husband. Here's to finding some really great men to share our lives with!)
Happy anniversary!
Oooh my....hold tightly to him. He sounds absolutely wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic anniversary weekend with your own Babycakes.
(Have him write up some notes for the "leave and cleave" methodology, please.)
FTN - It took me awhile to realize confident people like to be praised and appreciated too.
ReplyDeleteFADKOG - Thanks! A toast to us for knowing how to pick 'em!
Alice - Yes, he's a keeper! Thanks for the well wishes too.
Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! 22 is a good number, I think. We were married just under 2 months earlier.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
Happy Anniversary Cocotte!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post. I'm so happy for you. It's the little things like enjoying companionship in Lowe's...
22 years! I hope y'all enjoy 22 more and then some.
Love,
SW
Thank you, everyone. We had a very nice day together.
ReplyDeleteI hope you shared the list with your husband.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to forget how much guys like praise as much as women do, they just don't make it near as obvious.
Sorry I'm late to the party, but I'll add my belated Happy Anniversary to the others.
ReplyDelete22 years is a Big Deal - congratulations on that. And hopes for 22 more. . .
And thanks for appreciating your husband in public view. I'm sure that that is not unrelated to the 22 years thing. . .
And you know, I love the 'Happy Married Stuff' too. . . Thanks.
Awww, Happy Anniversary!!
ReplyDeleteWow & ooh-la-la, you sound like one lucky French Maid, m'dear!
Thanks Tulip & DJ - yes, he enjoyed the list (though I made the last item a bit more personal, just for him).
ReplyDeleteLB - Oh, I know I'm a lucky little Cocotte - who do you think bought me that outfit??
