Bad Boys, Bad Boys, Watcha Gonna Do?

Confession time.............I do have this fascination with bad boys. I was flipping through the channels last night and kept going back to Criss Angel, Mindfreak. Truth be told, the guy just plain scares me and I do not enjoy his tricks because they creep me out. But something about that guy is hot. He's in the same league with Johnny Depp, who is my number one supremo man of hotness (minus the Willy Wonka persona). Colin, to your left, runs a close second. Show me just about any lead singer/guitarist who appears to not shave daily, and I take notice. Can anyone say "Mark McGrath?"

What is with this universal obsession for women? I can't speak for everyone, but I believe my problem dates back to the 1970's junior high experience. When I hit puberty, the majority of guys I knew were skinny burn out-types, wearing jean jackets, longer hair, and acting as cool as a naive 13 year old could in an era without cell phones, internet (porn), snowboards, piercings or tattoos. Picture Denis Leary as a 13 year old, with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, and you are looking at my first love.

I attempted to rid myself of this bad boy business back in college. I dated a "bad boy" on and off for a year. We had a very dysfunctional relationship of breaking up and then either doing the drunk dialing thing or the love letter over break thing and getting back together. The final straw for me was when I found a note in his campus mailbox (cause I'm a snoop) left by some girl with these lyrics written in red and a reference to "last nite."

I was cured of my desire to spend my life on the dark side and I married Mr. Clean Cut All American Athlete three years later. Life is good. But when I witnessed hubby rocking the guitar hero one night at a party, I was all on top of him the minute we got in the car!

  1. I'm right there with you... I've always been a sucker for the bad boys. I think it's a combination of the forbidden fruit/'inside there's a sweet and complex guy and all he needs is ME to bring it out'. We talk smack all the time about by guys wanting to conquer women. The instinct is in us as well.

i also have a weakness for motorcycles and leather. but they have to be clean. i'm no fan of ignoring personal hygeine.

i guess i am as guilty as the rest of womankind.

  4. Yeah, I know what you mean.

Except, my bad boys were in disguise. They looked like All-American boys but deep down inside, they weren't.

  5. I also have a bad boys fascination. Which is funny, because I married a 'good boy'. But when I have 'TV crushes' they are always bad boys.

  6. Frances - very good point about the whole conquering thing!

FADKOG - glad we both had the common sense to marry the good boys.

Lime - I will share Colin with you.

Mama - I also recall a few All American types who were just plain creeps.

Sassy - Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I should mention here that I was the good boy that always wanted to be the bad boy. The guy that girls went to cry to after the bad boy broke up with them.

    Which sucked for me, really.

But wait... you are on top of your husband just from watching him play Guitar Hero? And I can barely get any rockstar love playing the real guitar...

  8. FTN - well, husband has never played a musical instrument, so it was the "never saw that before" hotness factor working in his favor.

With your wit and charm, I will not believe that you didn't have plenty of girls chasing you, bad boy or not.

Funny, I ended up marrying a good guy, too -- but a girl can have her fantasies, can't she? lol ;)

    This line made me giggle:
