Wondering what I've been up to?12 - Hours I will have spent "celebrating" (I use that term loosely) with relatives
11 - Pictures I took of the kids to get a decent one for our annual Christmas card (beats the 30 we had to take with a 35 mm when they were toddlers)
10 - Dozen snickerdoodles I made for my annual cookie exchange last week (and would you believe another person made the same thing - who makes snickerdoodles for Christmas?)
9 - Candy canes given to my kids that went straight to the trash can because no one likes them here
8 - Awful, old Christmas albums or CD's that Husband plays every year (google the Anita Kerr singers for a small taste of my misery)
7 - Christmas trees in my house (1 real, 1 ceramic and 5 fake of varying sizes)
6 - Christmas cookies I eat every evening with my latte while watching Bravo's 'Top Chef' or the Food Network
5 - Christmas concerts I attended (1 at church, 4 school-related - I used to actually like "Carol of the Bells")
4 - Actual times I went Christmas shopping
3 - Afternoons it took me to wrap all the gifts
2 - Websites I shopped at (amazon and american eagle)
1 - Hours it will take my family to open all their gifts one-by-one on Christmas morning
Wishing all of you a joyous Christmas Day, filled with fun and laughter and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Number one is about accurate for my fam, as well. Well, for me, my mom and my kid. The rest of the family? It takes like 6 hours. Cause NO ONE shuts up.
ReplyDeletei made 5 dozen snickerdoodles last week. those things are crack in cookie form.
ReplyDeletemerry christmas
Let me tell you... Saturday I said I was just going to make a small batch of cut out cookies so the kids could decorate them for Santa. Then my husband says, "That's all you made?! Where are the snickerdoodles?" I usually make a triple batch of snickerdoodles and give them away to the inlaws on Chirstmas morning. This year, I did not. I just did the cut out cookies, and I am ok with it! Before, if I didn't make the snickerdoodles, there was tragedy. And since I decided to not make them, I have heard of several people making them, and I have seen them in the stores more and more. Everyone used to say, "What are snickerdoodles?" and I could never beleive they didn't know...
ReplyDeleteOK... enough ranting about snickerdoodles. I bet I will be sure to make them next year.
Happy Holidays! :)
This year I did not bake.
ReplyDeleteToo bad.
Too busy.
No one in my house but me eats them anyway.
How do I know? I haven't heard one single word about missing out on Christmas goodies this year. I believe I just quit, forevah!
Snickerdoodle? Sounds good. Must look up receipe.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and thanks for all the reads!
And the G-rated kisses.
ReplyDeleteHugs are okay too.
The other day my youngest son came home and was soon in tears when he couldn't find the candy cane he'd brought home from school. Begging me to go buy him more, etc., and if it meant he'd be calm, I was nearing the point of booting up and heading to the store. Before I could, though, he found his tiny candy cane, unwrapped it with glee, took one lick, and proclaimed it "Yuck!"
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and yours!
The preparation always vastly outweighs the big day, doesn't it? Kind of like a wedding.
ReplyDeleteI love your countdown. Sounds alot like my house without all the trees...
ReplyDeleteWow, somebody's been a busy lil elf! ;)
ReplyDeleteNice countdown, girl!
Glad you & yours had such a nice Christmas... and hope the wonderment of the holiday season is still continuing! =)
