There's always things that manage to catch me off guard during the holidays. Here are some recent events that made me go "huh?"Santa got pulled over in our suburb: On the Sunday before Christmas, I witnessed Santa being pulled over by the cops. Santa was in his sleigh on the back of a flatbed trailer, which was being pulled by a pickup truck. A bevy of teen elves were huddled in the ditch, on their cell phones. I checked the local rag to see if it was featured under the "Police Beat" but unfortunately, that particular story was absent. I really want to know if Santa got in trouble for riding in an open air vehicle without a seat belt or if there was some sort of mischief with underage elves.
Husband lavishly gifts me: Under the tree on Christmas morning, I found my usual Bath & Body Works items, candles, perfume, pajamas, and a diamond necklace. Something I didn't request or expect to receive. No complaints here, but much thankfulness has been lavished on dear Husband.
I wasted 48 hours figuring out how to download songs from I-Tunes: (maybe this wasn't much of a surprise, considering my track record). My son got an I-pod for Christmas and a bunch of I-tune gift cards. He set everything up on the laptop, but was unable to redeem the gift cards. I spent two straight days googling the problem (and let me just say, it's a VERY common problem). A techie mentioned on some obscure forum to be sure you are the network administrator when downloading songs. I ignored that odd piece of advice, but finally got desperate after exhausting all of Apple's diagnosing tools. I logged out of my son's name and onto my name and voila! Problem solved. Would have been nice if Apple had mentioned that on their site, instead of making me think I had router problems or blaming Norton.
It was 66 degrees here on December 27th: My body craves the heat and I got my fix for one whole day. It was back down to 40 degrees on the 28th. Currently, we are having a snowstorm. Lovely.
We still have Christmas cookies sitting around on December 31st: This is shocking in my house, with three teenaged kids and yours truly. Even I am tired of looking at them.
A diamond necklace??? Lovely! Sounds like you had a festive, interesting and self controlled holiday season.
ReplyDeleteLOL, girrrrrrrrl, I saw Santa getting arrested in d'town, at a bar back during the week b4 Christmas! Seriously, 2 cops were walking him (Santa was stumbling, lol)....
ReplyDeleteDIAMONDS?! - holy sparkles, batman! lol
I've gotten a black pearl from hubby (from Hawaii) but nary a diamond TO DATE. lol
I can only imagine the "thankfulness" for that lil gem! ;)
I've given iTune giftcards before but never heard of probs... and hubby is the 'keepr of the iTune' account, so he just DLs whatever I need on my iPod when I ask, so I'm not real famililar w/the issues you had, but sheeeeeeeeesh, what a pain in the neck that must have been. Glad you got it all figured out, at least. =)
Ohhhh, it was warm here, too -- gave me early Spring fever, lol (I'm so NOT a winter gal).
Now about those cookies.... EAT 'em and *poof*, they'll disappear. ;)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! =)
OH! ps, I linked you and quoted you a couple of times in my 'poll results' -- hope ya don't mind. =)
ReplyDeleteWe saw Santa in a sleigh and one penned up reindeer sitting in a bank parking lot after hours in the midst of a raging wind/snow storm a few days before Christmas. He was a trooper to stick it out for the kids who wanted to see him, but no one was as brave as him!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a fantastic Christmas. May your new year be just as wonderful!
the santa thing is kinda funny, does make you wonder.
ReplyDeletei'm tired of the cookies too.....i keep eating them though.
It sounds like you had a nice holiday season! Here's to a great '09!
ReplyDeleteOne of those surprises definitely falls into the "bling" category. Nice!!
ReplyDeleteA diamond... nice! I keep hinting to hubby I want a bigger diamond. I didn't go gaudy when we got married... but now I really want a bigger one! Hopefully, if I keep mentioning it, he will get the hint by the time our 10 year anniversary comes around...
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! And I am tired of looking at those cookies as well!!!
Happy New Year!
ReplyDelete*ting*
Jody - well, no one got drunk, if that's what you mean by self-controlled - haha.
ReplyDeleteLB - speaking of drunk, yeah, I think I've been a witness to a drunk Santa or two. What do you mean, NO diamonds to-date. Not even an engagement ring????
LB - I never mind being linked to:)
FADKOG - Hoping your new year is a good one too!
Lime - We've moved on to box chocolates now. The cookies are gone!
Russ - Here's to pullups!
Em - I am rather sparkly today!
Buttafly - I think JodyJ is also hitting her 10 year mark this year and hoping for a bigger diamond. You two should do some brainstorming together.
LB - I was just over at your place!
Yep, we're doing bloggy rounds right at the same time, huh? ;)
ReplyDelete... and nope, no engagement ring.
I only wear a gold band on my L hand. Yes, it's yellow gold. And no, I'm not a yellow gold kinda gal. But we won't get started on *that*, lol.
I opted for a down payment on a house in lieu of the diamond ring.... but considering that was over 15 years ago now, I thought I *might* have a diamond ring by now, but .....
Ah well, there's more impo. stuff than bling. ;)
Sounds like you were spoiled quite nicely! You really should post a pic of your lovely lil' neck being caressed by that bit o' bling...
ReplyDeleteLB - No love for the yellow gold? I chose that in the 80's when I always had a tan!
ReplyDeleteFlutterby - I might take your suggestion.
You got cookies left over? They didn't three days at my house. Are diamonds a way to your heart? Lucky girl...
ReplyDeleteVery cool on both the necklace and the day of warmth. And here's to a great year ahead!
ReplyDeleteMike - Nope, diamonds aren't the way to my heart, but who am I to turn them down?
ReplyDeleteCitizen - It's not Puerto Rico, but 66 degrees is magical in December in these parts.
Woot woot for diamonds! He's a keeper!
ReplyDeleteToss the cookies. Save yourself!
Nothing against yellow gold -- it looks great on the right person (mostly blondes)... but I just happen to prefer sterling silver or white gold on myself. ;)
ReplyDelete...'course, in the 80's, I wore it all.... and sometimes even at the same time! LOL!
