Anyone reading my sideboards may have noticed that I've been listening to the same CD for the past month. That's because it was lost for over a year. I searched my house and vehicles high and low for that CD and feared that some other family was tooling around South Dakota in a white Kia Sedona rental enjoying MY forgotten CD. I had the case, but no CD.Like most things that get lost around here, the first thing I did was blame my kids. I sent them a couple of e-mails (cuz they are just never home when important things like missing scissors happen to me) demanding that they check their CD players and cases and return my CD promptly. In response, I got e-mails that read, "Who listens to No Doubt? Not me!" and "No Doubt about it Mom, your music is not something I'd borrow."
So, about a month ago, I'm sitting in my van and decide to listen to a Barenaked Ladies CD while I wait for my son. I open up the case, take out the CD and what should appear underneath it? My long lost CD was found!
When my son got in the car, I showed him my new found disc and proceeded to play it full blast. The first thing out of his mouth was, "Mom, I think you owe my an apology." I acted all innocent, but he continued on about the number of e-mail nastygrams I had sent to him until I managed an "I'm sorry!"
At the dinner table that night, middle child confronted me as well. "So Mom, I heard you found your missing CD..........don't you owe me an apology????"
What has come out of your mouth and bitten you back?
LOL!
ReplyDeleteWell dang girl, I'm glad you found your Gwen Stefani again!
I bite myself in the ass so often that I lose count, lol
I forgot I have that CD, too! I know just where it is, I just haven't listened to it forever!
ReplyDeleteIf you happen to find a U2 DVD with videos and interviews on it that's black and red and came inserted in the special edition release of "How To Build An Atomic Bomb" that I bought on Black Friday 2004 with my two children in tow while in line for 2 hours at Best Buy because I got trapped, I'd really love to have it back!
oh man, i have had similar scenarios play out before too and i have apologized.
ReplyDeleteOh, man. I'm so not looking forward to that day.
ReplyDeleteWho DOESN'T listen to No Doubt. They're not that old that they're out of style, are they?
Maybe I'm getting old.
LB - Love the Gwen....she may be my favorite female vocalist.
ReplyDeleteFADKOG - LOL....I'll keep my eyes open for your DVD. That is a devastating loss!
Lime - apologizing to your kids can be a humbling experience.
Mama - No Doubt is old timers' music, sorry to say. I will do a post sometime on the awful music these kids listen to nowadays (said in my old lady voice).
Ouch!
ReplyDeleteSo, does that make me an old timer, since I like No Doubt too?
Oh, yeah. . . been there, done that, ate the crow (tastes kinda like really gamey chicken).
ReplyDeleteAnd listen, you must be a youngster, 'cuz No Doubt never even appeared on my radar screen. And I first heard BNL maybe five years ago (liked 'em surprisingly well, for music that appeared after I got out of college. . .)
And my experience has always been, that the surest way to find your missing CD is to go buy a replacement copy. . .
Oh Cocotte we just had a discussion about this sort of thing this past weekend.
ReplyDeleteMy mother is certain she 'lent'us a particular DVD. I have reassured her time and time again that I don't have it, nor have ever had it.
I don't think she's convinced. I look forward to seeing her eat a little crow when she finds it :O)
Russ - are you over 30? That seems to be the cut-off point of coolness, at least in my kids' eyes.
ReplyDeleteDesmond - BNL is the best. They are supposedly hilarious in concert, though I've never had the priviledge. I highly recommend their Xmas CD - "Barenaked for the Holidays." And surprisingly, my kids have love for BNL too.
Oh, and I'm no youngster. I just have immature musical tastes - ha.
Jody - now that is funny. I remember when I left home, my mom accused me of taking one of her cookbooks - like I was ever going to be doing any real cooking at age 21.
What hasn't come out of my mouth that has come back to bite me? "I'm not contageous", "I really mean that", "I won't forget to pick you up"...the list goes on.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on my blog. In my day, Home Ec was Home Ec but had recently been changed from "Cookin' N' Sewin'", but Industrial Arts was still "Shop".
"I'm not contagious" - oh, that was good, Trooper Thorn, M.D.
