Being a fan of John Mayer, I had to chuckle last week when I heard about this:
During an appearance on On-Air with Ryan Seacrest Wednesday, the Grammy-winning singer joked that all of Britney’s songs are about “I’m going out tonight, but nobody look at me…. I’ve never met her and I’m not coming down on her but all the songs are sorta like, ‘I’m getting all my girls together, we’re gonna go out…’ and like, ‘I’ve got holes cut out for tits, I’ve got flashlights on me.’ And it’s like, ‘Why is everybody looking at me, everybody’s looking at me,” Mayer chuckled.
We've had few run-ins with celebrity in this house, but ironically, two that have happened have been with Britney and John. Husband got ahold of free tickets in the company loge to a Britney Spears concert back in 2000 after her first album, when she wasn't such a freak. He took our two girls and he literally bumped into Britney in the back halls of the arena, rounding a corner. This was exciting business for a second and fifth grader and they still talk about the time Dad almost knocked over Britney. No one is a fan of hers anymore, but it's still a good story.
A few years ago, College Daughter was volunteering at a local hospital when John Mayer came to town and did a Make-A-Wish concert at the hospital for a young girl with cancer. College Daughter was chosen to greet him when his limo pulled up, carry his guitar case, and escort him through the hospital. He was very kind to everyone he met and commended her and her fellow volunteers for their service. Of course, she's been a fan of his ever since. He played to a small room of about 25 cancer patients and stayed till he'd played every last request. Very cool.
The guy might be a player, but anyone who writes songs like Your Body Is A Wonderland knows women. And this song can bring me to tears if I think too much about it:
I love John Mayer too! I find I get distracted when watching him perform with all his facial expression. :O)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with his statement about Britney Spears, she is a media magnet although at times I feel sorry for her, but I mean c'mon you can't leave the house with no undies and expect the press NOT to hound you.
Try as I might, and I really have tried, I just haven't been able to 'get' the thing about John Mayer, and part of me wants to take Jennifer Aniston aside (on the many times she seeks me out for guidance)(heh) and tell her "Oh, honey....no. Just...no."
ReplyDeletethose are a couple of interesting brushes with fame. it's always nice to hear when someone is a decent sort. and yes, those two songs of john mayer's are ones i really like too.
ReplyDeleteJody - He does have some odd facial expressions when he sings!
ReplyDeleteFADKOG - Oh really, Mrs. Joe Jonas? I think he's sexy, in a non-traditional way, sort of like Harry Connick Jr. It's the lips and the voice.
Lime - I did think it was nice that he took the time to talk to the volunteers, ask them about their jobs and learn their names, ages, etc.
How can you not l-l-l-love a guy who sings lyrics like Your Body Is A Wonderland.
ReplyDeleteI'll pay money for that ticket! :) lol
Flutter - I KNOW!
