I have to wear glasses. My eyes became too dry many years ago for contacts, so I swtiched to glasses and Husband did the same because it was just less work. Plus, he said he wasn't trying to pick up the chicks anymore, which was a good thing. Although, I tend to think glasses look sexy smart on most men!
Anyway, I treat myself to a new pair every three years. I deserve it and I like to keep current. I picked up my latest pair this past Friday afternoon. Husband knew I had been to the eye doctor, had chosen some new frames, and that I was picking them up last week. However, it has been going on three days now and he still hasn't noticed that I'm wearing them. And I refuse to mention it. Because his total obliviousness drives me insane at times.
In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that it wasn't a drastic change. See below:
BEFORE
You will note that the shape is different and that I went from black metal to red plastic. Also, please note how much bigger the side pieces are. When I talk to someone, I look at his/her face. I notice right away when the person has gotten new glasses. Maybe I'm just special that way.
It makes me want to go buy a blond wig (I'm a brunette) and wear it around the house, just to see if Mr. Clueless notices anything different.
On a positive note, my 14 year old son noticed my new specs the instant he saw me with them for the first time. He should do well with the chicks someday.

Enough change that anyone should notice!! Nice glasses.
ReplyDeleteFrustrating but probably true, maybe he's focused on you rather than the accessories .... and that might not be an entirely bad thing.
ReplyDeleteJust one oblivious guy's opinion ...
they are sufficiently different to notice, no doubt. though xavier gives a nice spin.
ReplyDeleteWow, Cocotte, your fur is really pale. . . (and, um, I'll refrain from making any crude remarks about posting photos of yer bunny. . .)
ReplyDeleteTo my (admittedly very male) eyes, those don't look THAT different, just for a casual glance - even tho the shape is different, they both have a similar 'rimless' look around the bottom of the lenses, and I can imagine that, at least from the front, they wouldn't change your 'look' all that much.
But hey, I'm a guy.
And Xavier. . . Dude, you're a genius. Did you have to take a class for that, or anything?
I like your new specs, and I agree the shape is different enough to notice. Go for it and buy a blonde wig and then strut yourself around the house, he'll take notice for sure and you'll get a new wig outta the deal! :O) Have some fun with it!
ReplyDeleteLove your glasses! They really compliment your ears...
ReplyDelete:)
Em - Coming from a man, I thank you very much for noticing! Good to see you again, too.
ReplyDeleteXavier - Nope, more like he was focused on March Madness this weekend. Grrr....
Lime - Thank you for the confirmation.
Des - You should have seen me walking around the house, trying to find something to pose the glasses upon. Middle Child's American Girl dolls were just too darned small, or I have a really big head.
Jody - I once moved furniture around a room and he did NOT notice. I'm beginning to wonder if a boob job would be noticed, but I frankly doubt it.
Flutter - Thank you for the compliment. I guess I never ate enough carrots?
Well, see, that's my point exactly. . . If the Madness is on the TV, how can he be expected to notice anything?
ReplyDeleteAnd hey, how 'bout my Spartans? Huh?
Your son will be a downright ladies man if he stays that attentative! I'm married to Mr. Oblivious II, also. I'm almost tempted to cut my long hair short to see how long it would take him to notice!
ReplyDeleteI have some 'hot librarian' glasses that I wear for reading and working on the computer, but I think it's time to upgrade because I've had them several years now. Maybe I'll do that AND cut my hair short as a test!
Well maybe a boob job and new glasses would make him take notice... men are visual aren't they, maybe shocking him visually is the way to go... LOL P.S. make sure you add the blonde, sassy wig to the ensemble, if that doesn't work you may need to hurt him :O)
ReplyDeleteFADKOG - Years back, when I got the Jennifer Aniston 'do, my hairdresser wanted me to call her to let her know when Husband finally noticed. I'm proud to say, he did notice that within a 48 hour time period.
ReplyDeleteJody - See, people claim that men are "visual" but I'm just not buying it. There have been times when we are out, and I'm the one saying, "Did you see that woman with her boobs hanging out?" and he's like, "what? where?"
Oh men are visual, take my word for it .... you should have asked him how his peripheral vision was working. I'm just saying. When Queenie and I are out, mine works just fine.
ReplyDeleteSome woman's got her boobs hanging out?!?
ReplyDeleteDes - relax........I was just refering to massive cleavage.
ReplyDeleteI just got a new pair a few months ago myself and am loving them. Of course, I also went from contacts to glasses, so it's noticable.
ReplyDeleteMama - Hope you are getting more compliments than I am here - lol!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I can be oblivious that way. I got my first pair of glasses this year, so it's not soemthing that is very salient to me.
ReplyDeleteThey are totally different glasses!
ReplyDeleteI bet he notices next week. My husband always notices hair about a week later and I think, wth, this is the first time you looked at me in a week? Nice.
But look at the bright-side, you can be pretty sure that you could go buy a whole new wardrobe and he'd never notice a thing and you wouldn't have to explain!
Citizen - You do not seem the oblivious type to me!
ReplyDeleteLaggin - True dat! I've got a closet full of shoes to prove it.
I'm reeeeally late to this post (but got wind of it from the comment you left for me a lil while back), but I can DEFINITELy see a big diff in the glasses.
ReplyDeleteHas he noticed yet??
