If there's one thing I love to shop for, it is shoes. Shoe shopping is not the challenge that clothes shopping is for me. With clothes, there's the hassle of trying to find what department a person my age should shop in, actually finding something I like, then the nuisance of the dressing room. I break the rules and take in about 20 items, usually coming out with one thing that actually fits me properly. Size 6 jeans are never made for people over 5'6" tall. I also have a problem with sleeve length. And maybe it's just me, but by the time I exit the dressing room, I'm a static mess with red splotches all over my neck and chest. There's just nothing fun about it.But shoes........oh the ease of just slipping on a pair right in front of the rack. As a teen, I didn't enjoy it as much. By age 14, I was my 5'9" self, with size 10 feet. Back in the 70's, size 10's were hard to come by. Plus, it seemed that all the shoes in my size were for "old ladies." No more! Size 10 is now in abundance with plenty of sexy styles to choose from. I never seem to have a problem finding shoes that fit! Go me!
What prompted this post, you may ask? A great day of shoe shopping with College Daughter! She wanted some cheap flip flops for summer. (Let me insert here - do NOT call them "thongs") Old Navy had a Buy 2/$5 deal. Fit right into her budget. We then headed to DSW (Dallas Shoe Warehouse) to use a coupon I had. In the clearance area, I found a pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction shoes in dark brown that I loved and fit like a glove. After the clearance price and coupon, I scored them for $39.99. I have a sense of pride in that!
Old Navy is selling all their plastic flip flops for a buck on Saturday! I'm debating if it's worth going over early to pick up some for my own size 10 feet.
ReplyDeleteTrue story: Shoes suck.
ReplyDeleteSneakers, work boots, and hunting boots. What else is necessary?
(don't hate him. after all, he's just a man)
"do NOT call them 'thongs'"another perfectly good word, lost to the vagaries of shifting meanings. . .
ReplyDeleteFADKOG - I hope they're not going out of business!
ReplyDeleteXavier - I don't do boots. And I only wear tennis shoes when I have to!
Desmond - I know!
Has anyone spoken to Therese about this post?
ReplyDeleteOnly a woman could get excited by writing a post on shoes. All I need for them to do is fit and be approximately the right color...
ReplyDeleteI don't really enjoy shoe shopping, but I did get a kick out of finding some great boots this winter. I do the same thing with clothes - take in as many items as I want to. And also end up all staticky.
ReplyDeleteShoe-gasmic!
ReplyDeleteDesmond - Not that I'm aware of.
ReplyDeleteMike - Shoes rock!
Citizen - It's the ease of shoe shopping that makes me happy.
Laggin - Amen!
i'm no great fan of shoe or clothes shopping but i am glad you scored some bargains and had fun with the daughter unit.
ReplyDeletei hope your ankle heals up quickly.
I share you clothes shopping problems. While I can normally find pants in tall sizes, shirts and jackets, unfortunately do not come in talls for women. Which is totally unfair that guys have tall shirts, but not women.
ReplyDeleteI do love shoes, but I always feel like I already tower over anyone without heels, but oh all the cute shoes have high heels. The kitten heeled shoes are just never as cute!
Tulip - I hear ya! But I do seem to find mules that I think are cute.
