A Slice Of Birthday Life

Except for the growing a year older part, I really enjoy birthdays! And when your birthday falls on a weekend, it's a good excuse to have a three day celebration. Husband took me out for a special birthday date on Friday night. The first stop? Best Buy, so I could pick out that little gem on the left. I've never had anything but a generic walkman before, so I'm moving up in the world of technology, finally! Of course, I now need my son to teach me how to download music, import cd's, etc. Baby steps, people, baby steps.

Next stop, was a new pizza trattoria. We ordered a couple of Sierra Nevada Pale Ales and the pancetta pomodoro pizza, chock full of pancetta and caramelized onions. Tasty! Once we got home, somebody had hidden a new something-something in my lingerie drawer. Yeah for birthday sex!

Saturday afternoon, I met a group of friends at the local grocer and we picked up some deli salads, cheese, baguette, and mini chocolate croissants and headed to a new (for us) winery.

The outdoor gardens were gorgeous, but the inside was just as lovely. Plenty of local art hanging on the walls and displayed in the lobby. Our state is not known for its fine wines, but after a few tastings, I found a semi-dry red wine that suited me just fine. We got a bottle (or two) and enjoyed an afternoon of laughs.

My kids know how much I like candles that are food scented (as opposed to floral scents), so they got me a huge strawberry banana candle. College Daughter went to a local bakery and picked out this beautiful cake for me. It is chocolate with raspberry cream filling covered in chocolate ganache. Very rich and decadent.
I feel so blessed to have family and friends to share this life with.

  4. Happy Birthday!

Wow - Birthday Sex, WOOHOO! And a winery (I dunno about your state, but Great Lakes wines in general are quite underrated, IMHO).

And an Ipod - I'm somewhat gratified to know that, at least until this past weekend, someone besides me hadn't crossed over to electronic modernity. 'Course, now, you've got a bit o' work ahead of you, getting yer new toy fully loaded. . .

And, uh, 'a huge strawberry-banana candle'. . . probably best if I just keep my mouth shut on that one. . . ;)

WordVer = 'coblabia'; which I'll choose to read in the 'blabbing together' sense, rather than some of the other, uh, 'less-fit-for-polite-company' possible readings. . .

  5. Thanks for the wishes, everyone!
Russ - You know, birthday sex, anniversary sex, vacation sex....those "sure things."

Desmond - Well, I'm not much of a fan of the Great Lake ice wines. And I KNEW you'd make a comment about a banana candle. It's in a glass jar, so it's quite innocent. And I'm not responsible for word veri.
