Crossing It Off the Bucket List

Someone hand me a big, fat marker!

You may remember my enthusiasm for our national park system in previous posts. I'm excited to report that I've been planning a summer vacation for our family that will include six national parks and two national monuments. All but the Grand Canyon will be new adventures for all of us. Yes, it's a bit ambitious, but the proximity of it all in relation to each other really made us feel as though we needed to see everything while we were out there.

Here are the destinations:

Bryce Canyon

Zion National Park

Monument Valley

Grand Canyon

Grand Staircase

Arches National Park

Canyonlands

Capitol Reef

  1. My only concern would be, after you've visited 3 or 4 of 'em that it could kinda become 'sensory overload' - "Oh, look - more stunning rock formations. . ."

    ;)

Sounds like a great trip! Hope you have sufficient quantities of fun. . .

  3. Craig - We'll also be in Las Vegas for a few days, so that will combat any nature overload.

Lime - Well now, that makes me feel a lot better about doing it all in under 2 weeks.

  4. When we went to Zion we only spent one day there and wished we'd planned for more. Unfortunately, our plans didn't allow us to extend the visit.

I think you'll really enjoy your vacation even with the jampacked schedule. Looking at stunning rock formations never gets old. Really.

  5. Truey - We'll be in Zion for 2 days. I agree with you about it never getting old. If I could live anywhere, it would be Sedona.
