I've always wanted to attend a U2 worship service (no it's not about worshipping the band), but have just never been free when one is offered in our area. This song has always been a song of praise in my heart. Enjoy and I wish all of you a Blessed Easter.
Ahhh...only love can leave such a mark. Yes. Agreed. I have had to stop myself before while listening to U2 and driving because I've been compelled to want to close my eyes and raise my hands skyward in praise. So much of their work compels me to that feeling, and not just because I'm hardcore for the band. This song is one of those that moves me.
ReplyDeleteA church near me did a U2 worship several years ago, and I didn't learn of it until it was complete, but like you, I'd love to go to one. I have a book titled "The Gospel and U2" that I read years ago and was quite taken with. I found it again recently in my nightstand while cleaning it out and must read it again, and maybe put a bug (or Bono) in my pastor's ear...
Happy Easter to you and your family!
Ah. . . nice Irish boys, those. I'm sure they're all baptized Catholics. . .
ReplyDelete;)
Every once in a while, a pop song points pretty darn close to the Truth. I remember years ago, hearing Joan Osborne's 'One of Us' and thinking, 'What If, indeed?'
Outstanding video!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE U2. Their music is timeless!
Wishing you and your family a Happy and Blessed Easter!

I haven't ever thought of it before...but now that you say it...there is something truly spiritual about them.
ReplyDeleteAnd...um...Craig...there are plenty of Protestants in ireland. Remember? That's why there was a Bloody Sunday!
FADKOG - I feel the same way and thank you for the book recommendation; I just ordered it from my library!
ReplyDeleteCraig - I was going to mention the 'Sunday, Bloody Sunday' thing but Laggin beat me to it....they are not fans of organized religion and the older I get, the more I am right there with them. I agree though that many, many pop songs have elements of faith hidden.
Ron - Thank you! I agree - totally TIMELESS.....I just never tire of their songs.
Laggin - Miss you and hope you have a nice holiday weekend with your girls.
My apologies; sometimes my little smart-assed bits end up with me getting bit. . . ;)
ReplyDeleteExcellent.. I'm going to go dig out some more of their work, I tend to go in cycles, in music, and it's time to revisit U2, as of now :)
ReplyDeleteA blessed and happy Easter to you & family!
Huh, funny to see Cocotte re-appear!
ReplyDeleteI've not heard this song. "In the name of love" is the one that pops in my mind.
Happy Easter to you!
Craig - ?? No apologies necessary; it's just that the Irish are a sensitive bunch....
ReplyDeleteSailor - It's always fun to get out the old stuff and reacquaint myself!
Agent - WHOOPS! I must have posted that from my other gmail account by accident. I've been a mess lately; more on that another time!
My Love would definitely get on her knees for Bono.
ReplyDeleteUncool - Thanks for the naughty comment on my annual faith post!
