Turkeys, Weiners & Peaches

This is a post of random questions for you..........

See the creeper that has been hanging around my backyard for over a week?  He's scared me a number of times, suddenly appearing out of nowhere.  My first question:  Do wild turkeys hop?  Because that's all this fellow does.  Hop and then fly up in the air a few feet.  Husband thinks he's a disabled bird.  Please don't suggest I kill it for dinner.  I hate turkey.

Speaking of nasty meat............

My second question for you:  Should Weiner resign?  Or, how dumb is this guy?  After a long line of politicians with their questionable sexual activities revealed, did the guy really think he could lie his way out of this mess?  It reminds me of the actions of a 4 year old.  Some say, 'Let the voters decide!'  The sad part of that equation is that in this country, the majority vote along party lines and turn a blind eye to the misdeeds of their party's representatives.  At the very least, I hope his wife dumps his sorry ass.

And finally, could someone explain this song to me?  I can't get it out of my head.

  1. after never seeing wild turkeys the population seems to have exploded locally. can't say that i'v seen them hop but i followed one walking leisurely down the middle of the road a few days ago.

  2. Yep, that wild turkey is likely crippled or at least injured. They're typically walker/strutters.

Well now, Weiner's weiner is a sticky subject to say the least. Or maybe not so. See, if that had been me and I blamed some anonymous hacker for such an indiscretion causing an investigation, etc, and then was found out? Well now, I'd be up for "Falsley reporting an incident" at the very least along with a bill for any resources expended. If I was found to have done this on company time and/or equipment I'd be either done or at the least on-notice.

  3. I get wild turkeys here, too. Your best bet is to leave him be, I think. Weiner - yes, he should resign. But I doubt he will. And the Peaches song , I think, is meant to be about sex.

  4. Lime - Yes! The turkey population here has grown. And they do seem to take their sweet time crossing the road.

X - I just can't get over the fact that these are ADULTS doing this nonsense. It's what I expect from the 17 YO working at the DQ, not from someone in Congress.

Agent - I was thinking it could be about sex, but I'd love to know specifically what it's implying! haha

  5. LOVED this post, Bijoux!

Yes, (although I'm not 100% sure) I think that's normal for a turkey...to hop and then fly up in the air a few feet. I think it's because of their size.

Yes, I think Weiner should resign, but I doubt if he will. It's one thing to admit openly about his sexualy activities, however it's another to lie about first, and then turn around and admit it. That to me shows his true character.

"The sad part of that equation is that in this country, the majority vote along party lines and turn a blind eye to the misdeeds of their party's representatives."

    Yup...you said it!

    Now...about the peaches song.

I have no idea what it could mean, but I gotta tell ya...I LIKED it!

Makes me wanna peach now - HA!

  6. I never saw a wild turkey in my life, until about 10-15 years ago, when I was up north for a class reunion. They seem to have just come out of nowhere, until now they're just all over. . .

Rep. Weiner has GOT to be the most aptly-named congressman in history, dontcha think? As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a maroon!"

  7. 1) I don't think turkeys hop, so yeah, I think that it is injured.

2)Weiner should resign. He is a knucklehead and has no business in DC.

    3) They seem to really, really like peaches. I do too, I'm sad that they are only in season for a month or so (and I'm in the heart of peach country).

  8. Ron - Glad you enjoyed the song. We have a radio station that plays more alternative stuff, but then they go and do it in heavy rotation, which is maddening.

Craig - I don't think I'd seen one either until about 10 years ago. Weird!

Russ - I love peaches too. The season here is the first and second week of August. Then it's over!

  9. OK, I finally caught the song. I think the dude likes peaches. . .

Years ago, at our previous house, we planted a little peach tree, 'cuz I LOVES me some peaches. It took it five years to start bearing actual, honest-to-gosh edible peaches, and then the squirrels would get most of 'em. Finally, one year, we had a whole tree-full of really nice-looking peaches, that were about a week away from being ready to pick. We went on vacation, and when we returned, found that neighbor kids had stolen every last one of our peaches. And we never had another crop like that again. I don't think I ever actually ate an actual peach from my own tree. . .

    (*sigh*)

But we did have some nice raspberries, tho. . .

  10. And you know, if you view 'em from the right angle, peaches look kinda like butts. . . Sweet, juicy butts. . .

    But, uh. . . no, I mean, rather. . .

    Awwww, forget it!

  11. Nearly ever Fall we have a flock of 20-30 wild turkey who wander through our yard almost daily which is fairly bold considering they cross a county highway to get here!

It's the same flock that I have hunted for most of the 21 years we've lived here but I have yet to get more than a feather out of 'em!! Had plenty of success elsewhere but I think this flock knows me too well or something.

    Crafty birds, they are ....

  12. I might hate you for causing me to listen to that song.

Gonna move into the country and WHAT are you going to do?

  13. Craig - I had neighbor kids steal my pumpkins one year when I was a little kid. That just sucks.

X - Not interested in killing anything here.

    Leslie - You're welcome!!! Hahaha
