Room With A (Lousy) View

This is my living room.  Please enjoy the juxtaposition of Middle Child's vegetable seedlings in front of the window of wet, heavy snow.  After shoveling the driveway this morning, I do not have to work out at all this week.  Happy Spring!
On a side note: I saw a city service worker last Friday using a leaf blower to clear the sidewalks of snow near the center of town.  I'm not sure if that is ingenious or lazy?

  1. GREAT shot!!!

"Please enjoy the juxtaposition of Middle Child's vegetable seedlings in front of the window of wet, heavy snow."

OMG...cannot believe how much snow you got today. It's snowing here too, but it's more snow mixed with rain so it's not sticking.

"I saw a city service worker last Friday using a leaf blower to clear the sidewalks of snow near the center of town. I'm not sure if that is ingenious or lazy?"

HA! Probably more ingenious because he most likely put his snow blower away for the year.

    Stay warm and cozy.

    1. It's still coming down, but areas directly south got twice as much as we did. And I was thinking the same thing.....that worker probably already put way the snowblower or shovel!

  2. As I sit here in crazy pain from my shoulder and elbow (that were both already giving me enough trouble from old age, ha!) because I slipped twice in my driveway this morning on cold, slippery slush ... I'm totally feeling your frustration.

    1. Oh No! When I was shoveling, I couldn't believe how slippery it was. We usually get the powdery snow, not this slushy stuff. I hope your shoulder and elbow feel better soon. Advil!

  3. Yuk! When will this damn winter weather go away? Damn you, Punxsutawney Phil!

I'm sweating out my evening commute for fear of slippery roads and bad drivers.

Lazy or ingenious, that is the question. If the guy is doing more work with less effort, I've got to go with ingenious.

    1. Yes, my main worry is always the roads. I hope your commute home is uneventful. One of my friends is headed to NYC tomorrow with the high school orchestra who will be performing at St Paul the Apostle. I did the trip two years ago and the weather sucked.....rained the whole time, but at least it wasn't snowing!

I'm thinking it's more work to start up a leaf blower than grab a shovel, but I'm a bit of a weakling with those power cord things!

  4. I can see I will get no sympathy for our snow flurries.

I guess the guy is using the leaf blower like a mini snow blower? Seems a little silly but then again snow shoveling can be back breaking work.

    1. It was weird because there wasn't much snow last Friday, so he was really just blowing away the salt, which seemed wasteful!

  5. Definitely goes in the ingenious side of things; nothing wrong with multi-purpose tools!

Hope it melts off soon for you, we're supposed to get some tonight but it's not forecast to be much.

    1. It has now been snowing nonstop for 36 hours. Lame spring weather!

  6. I like your picture window. There must be a great view come the summer. There's been colossal amounts of snow in Northern Ireland. Tragically, lots of dead animals under the massive snow drifts out in the country.

    1. I have never heard of animals not surviving snow. What sort of animals?

    2. Sheep and lambs mostly. They were buried under snowdrifts up to 16 feet deep. Poor lambs, barely born and then they're gone.

    3. That is awful! We have bighorn sheep out west, but I've never heard of them not surviving heavy snow. You don't find sheep here, unless they are on a farm.

Then again, massive snow drifts like that aren't all that common either! Winter needs to be over.

  7. We had a bit of snow one morning last week, but it was gone in time for lacrosse practice in the afternoon. Not nearly as impressive as yours.

As for the leaf blower? I love that idea!

    1. As much as I act as though its weird to have snow in spring, I don't ever remember an April without snow.

  8. Ingenious, definitely ingenious ... probably saved the city $68.52 in labor costs and $12k or so in medical costs by doing it the easy way ....

  9. yep, this is the spring that just won;t arrive

  10. Uh-huh. That's what spring looks like around here too. Blech. Hurry up, warm weather!

  11. Hi Bijoux,
Here, the snow is gone but the cold persists. That is wonderful for the gardening project! I hope that the seedlings will be ready once the warmer weather is really here!
    Good luck!
