Spring and Summer In Bloom

Taking possession of our house in late July last year meant we missed a lot of color.  It's been fun to see what's sprouted and bloomed here since late April:

Gorgeous dogwoods in front of the house

Azalea in the back

Lily of the Valley on top of the rock wall.  There have also been daisies and foxglove, so something has always been in bloom.

A unique color combination of iris (at least to me!)  These remind me of the irises we had in our yard when I was growing up.

Very full azalea near our front door

This was the shocker........last fall, I kept looking at these plants around the foundation, trying to figure out what they were. They had a strange bell shaped 'pod' left over from the flowers. I have never seen Calla Lilies grown in Ohio, but I'm VERY excited about this.  I have always LOVED them!

Isn't this a huge hydrangea?  I love that it has blue, pink and purple flowers.

Happy Summer!

OMG...has it been a YEAR already since you moved into your new home? Gosh, it seems like it was only yesterday!

BEAUTIFUL photos! I clicked to enlarge so that I could see them BIG. WOW!

I can only imagine what those Lily of the Valley smell like. That's one of my favorite floral aromas. Jessica McClintock puts out a fragrance that has Lily of the Valley as a top note. It's such a beautiful fragrance.

Me too. I love them because of their shape. So simple and elegant.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

    Happy Summer!

    1. Aren't they so elegant? I've seen yellow and purple ones in florist shops, but the white ones seem the most stately. The lily of the valley did smell great. Wish it were closer to the house so a breeze would carry it to the windows. Yes, it's been almost a year. Time flies when you're painting and removing ugly wallpaper!

    1. Look for a house with more flowering bushes than trees! It was nice to have little raking to do last fall.

    2. Mebbe, tho I kinda like making the setting myself. I'd kinda like to find something more of a clean slate to set myself loose on. Though, ya know, that would kinda require us to have a stretch of less than normal amounts of life-drama .... so there is that

  5. A nice example of how you should live in a house a full year before making significant landscape changes, so you know what there is each season. You have a lot of beautiful flowers at the new place.

    2. Gorgeous! I'm envious ... all the flowers die in Houston this time of year.

    3. It's been really hot and humid, but rarely do things die here.

    How are you doing?
What beautiful flowers you have in your yard. Fantastic colors!
I have 2 types of Iris but I have not seen yours( two types of purple); nice! We had Calla lilies but they froze off one winter.
You got to love flowers... making the world a beautiful place.

    1. Dogwoods are great! We had one at the old place, but it died about two years after we moved in. I think the deer ate it!
