Did Somebody Say . . . SQUIRREL?

Let me just shimmy up here and see what you've got to eat.

Sunflower seeds?  Don't mind if I do!

And now, for my next trick . . .

I shall unhook this chain attached to your bird suet!

Just kidding!  Instead, I will now make this kernel of corn disappear!
I am tired of the paparazzi.  I turn my back to you, while I finish eating on your (paw quotes here)

    1. They are entertaining creatures! After all the trouble we've had with deer, the squirrels seem rather innocuous.

    2. if you say so. i've got a contract out on the varmints for decimating my sweet corn year after year. nasty things.

    1. I knew how much you'd enjoy this, Ron. Those pictures were the exact order that I took them. He was looking right at me as I took all those pictures, till the very end, when I guess he grew bored with it all and would not face me. So funny!

    1. Nope! He tried the day before and gave up. He must have devised a plan overnight, because no problem the next day......or maybe different squirrel? Ha!

  5. Squirrels are pesky little creatures. Their ingenuity is amazing when it comes to getting at anything you leave out for the birds. My mum (when she still had a garden) used to try all sorts of tricks to foil the squirrels but they always got to the food somehow. Despite that, squirrels are still one of my favourite animals. Pretty, speedy and very very alert.

    1. They are a fave of mine as well. I really don't mind them eating the birdseed, as long as they leave some for the birds.

  6. I used to despise squirrels. And then one day last summer, I fed one by hand, and suddenly thought they were the cutest things in the world. Funny how that works, huh?

    1. That sounds about right, Mark! My husband went from hating them to leaving little piles of sunflower seeds out for them in the winter at our old house. They would see him out back with his bucket and come running!

  7. Aww looks like you had a winter visitor. They can be a pain but they sure are cute to take pictures of!

  8. i've never seen a 'real life' squirrel but your little visitor looks really cute....for some reason i had in my mind that they were more red-ish in colour?

    1. There are brown squirrels that do have a reddish color, which is most common in this area. However, this was a grey squirrel. I didn't know you didn't have squirrels where you live! So no chipmunks either?
