There's a song I've been obsessed with for a few weeks. The first time I heard it, I thought Morris Day and the Time had gotten back together. No such luck, but it's throwback funk, and I like it!
Here is a viral video of the song made by a Dallas high school. Please note the Saturday Night Fever dance moves. Also, how some kids didn't get the memo on what color they were supposed to wear!

Where was this teacher when I was in high school?
That was so much fun! I love that teacher! This is the video of that song that went around in this area:

and well I guess it was right ;)
Oh, Shae, I guess they WERE right!!!!! I didn't know they were making parodies of the song already!
DeleteI have that song on my shuffle. Nice school! I was trying to figure out what the teacher taught...art? Photography?
ReplyDeleteFun.
I guess theatre!
Delete*THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE*
ReplyDeleteOMG...this was faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabulous!!!!!!!
I don't know whether you noticed it or not, but about two weeks ago, I highlighted the original Uptown Funk video on the sidebar of my blog because like you, I have been OBSESSED with this song!
OMG...but this video is even BETTER than the original! Damn, that teacher can MOVE. And it's funny because I've been seriously contemplating doing a Uptown Funk video parody of my own. So stay tuned, I just may do it.
Thanks so much for sharing this, my friend. I will be watching it over and over again.

Lol Ron, I need to check your sidebar more often because I did not see that! But I somehow just knew you would love this song as much as I do. In fact, I totally see you as that teacher! I think you should borrow some of his moves for your video!
DeleteNow you HAVE to do it!!!
I love it! Catchy tune and loved the dance moves! Cool teacher too and you are right, I would have liked to have such a teacher when I was in high school too!
ReplyDeletebetty
He makes it look effortless. I liked how everyone was included, too.
DeleteI thought of The Time when I first heard it, too! Bruno Mars is bringing a retro sound back in general, I think. All the good music is coming back in style!
ReplyDeleteIt's the first Bruno Mars song I've liked!
DeleteAnd where was this teacher when I was in school? He would have livened things up a bit. Great music too!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it, Nick.
DeleteI'm just thinking of what-all was involved in choreographing and filming it all (I lost track of how many different stop-and-dance groups there were; six or eight, maybe?). The mind reels. . .
ReplyDeleteI actually thought if seemed a bit on the fly, since some of the kids in the front weren't even dressed in the right colors. Kids pick up this stuff quickly. When I was chaperoning that NYC trip and we had a session with a Broadway dancer, the kids had an entire song and dance memorized in less than two hours.
DeleteBruno Mars is one of my absolute favs. He is so awesome. And he had one of the best Superbowl halftime shows EVER last year. So good. And I love this song.
ReplyDeleteVery cute video!
It's one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. At least when it comes to singing along.
DeleteI love this song, too. It's a throw back to our high school days. And that's got to be the drama teacher!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's why we love it, I'm sure. I think he looks like a drama teacher too.....and kinda hot, to boot!
DeleteMorris Day and the Time. Wow, way to take me back to my teenage years with that reference. I hadn't heard this song before but it's definitely catchy.
ReplyDeleteMorris Day and Prince were popular when I was in college......good times! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteParty time, excellent ...... we'd have been tossed out for such a thing back in the day, eh?
ReplyDeleteNo, at my school it would have received local news coverage and scholarships would have been rewarded.
DeleteYou had me at Morris Day!!! Loved him and the Time! And, Prince... of course, Prince!
ReplyDeleteThis video has been the coolest thing I've seen all day. I totally missed it when it was first out apparently. Happy to have time to catch up on blogs today. This was so much fun. Thanks!!
I loved Morris Day and Prince, too! Good times!
