Here are some of our adventures in and around Palm Beach:
One day, we took a shuttle to Delray Beach (shout out to Ron's brother!) and boarded a yacht for a lunch cruise on the intracoastal waterway. It took about 2.5 hours to go from Delray to Boca Raton and back. The lunch wasn't anything to write home about, but the day was beautiful, the ride was smooth and the view was marvelous.

Their handbags are treated like objets d'art.
Looking back towards the avenue from one of the many alleyways. There were surprises like this at the end of the alleys. I loved how they hang orchids in the trees.
Many apartments are located above the merchants. How charming is this entrance?

Wow, it all looks just as swish as Palm Beach is always made out to be. I love the sculptures of children - from a distance they look totally real!
ReplyDeleteIt's supposedly the richest zip code in the US, with 30 billionaires. Hard to believe Manhattan or a California zip doesn't beat it.
DeleteLooked like great places to visit! Seemed too like you did a variety of adventures while you were there!
ReplyDeletebetty
We tried to spend as much time outdoors as possible.
DeleteThese photographs are faaaaaaaabulous! OMG...they brought back so many wonderful memories for me when I lived in Boca and would boat along the intracoastal waterway! Aren't the homes incredible? And I swear to god, so many of these places that you shared look very familiar to me. What a nice boat you were on!
ReplyDelete"we traveled to the famous Worth Avenue. It is the Rodeo Drive of Florida."
Yes, I've been to Worth Avenue several times and you're right, it's the Rodeo Drive of Florida!
"The second hour began with one of those Florida afternoon downpours."
Yup, so typical of Florida. But what's so different from the downpours here on the Eastcoast is that the ones in Florida don't last long, and then sun comes out again.
Thanks so much for sharing this tour, my friend. It actually made me a little homesick for the place I lived for 20 years. I really enjoyed my time in Florida.
Have a grrrrrreat week!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the photos! I knew you would appreciate them, having lived there. The houses on the water were all so pretty, but we did see this one tiny, run down shack in between two mansions with a bunch of aluminum lawn chairs out front. Someone held out and wouldn't sell their property to developers! LOL!
DeleteSure looks like a fun time. That is one big arse tree and a ton of metal kids too. Must have been so nice with no crummy cold.
ReplyDeleteIt was WONDERFUL to feel 80 degrees again! I'm losing my tan now....boo!
DeleteI really like the tiled stairs and that huge tree.
ReplyDeleteI loved those stairs...did you notice the pillar candles near the top? Sigh....
DeleteReally cool photos, Beej. The kapok tree is way cool.
ReplyDeleteThose big, gorgeous houses on the inter-coastal are lovely. Awfully low to the water, tho. Wonder what they do for hurricanes?
I know! They were all like that. You would think a big rain would flood them all.
DeleteOh my goodness, that tree is huge! Love seeing tree's that old. Your pictures are so wonderful. Looks like you had a really good time.
ReplyDeleteI like old trees, too.....especially redwoods. They are amazing.
DeleteOh wow...that actually does look like Rodeo Drive. Breathtaking! And I love those steps.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to be somewhere where things weren't covered in salt.
DeleteOh--and I forgot to answer--looks like there's a Lafayette's Music Room in Memphis. I don't think there's one here in Nashville. Although you reminded me of hearing my parents saying they ate at Margaritaville while on vacation. I said, "You DO know there's one downtown here, right?" They didn't know.
DeleteIt is SO gorgeous. I love that tree. I wish I had one in my back yard. Nothing better than a huge, old tree. Except or maybe hot weather at the beach. ;) What a fantastic vacation!
ReplyDeleteIt felt soooo good!
DeleteGreat photos, Bijoux! It looks like you guys had a fabulous trip. After this harsh winter, I enjoy seeing these pictures of warm, sunny places!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rob. I enjoy seeing warm places, in person or in pictures!
DeleteThe yacht you were on looks very similar to mine! A little smaller, perhaps. But then again, I come from old money.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun time!
We spent a good portion of the trip discussing old money vs new money, and how different it looks!
DeleteIt sounds just wonderful. I'm glad you got a respite from all the cold. And I do love that multi-colored tiled set of steps.
ReplyDeleteI would live to have outdoor colored tile like that, but it would probably crack quickly.
