Our last day on the island was spent relaxing by the pool, walking the beach path one last time, and shopping at a nearby outdoor mall. We picked up some souvenirs for the kids and some neat coasters made with lava rock by a local artist. Here are some random photos to conclude this travel series:
View from our hotel room
This cattle egret found a nice place to hang out, by the fountain.
Though I've seen banana trees before, I had never seen the way the blossom hung down on what almost looks like a wire. It was really strange!
Bananas once they form near the blossom
It's not vacation until you have a delicious drink, pool side.
The view, while enjoying a cold drink, does not get any better than this!
Night time at the pool and time to say 'aloha' and 'mahalo.' Thank you for sticking through my three months of reminiscing.
We have cattle egrets here, too, and I'm trying my best not to let our banana tree die, but I love love love the looks of that drink!
ReplyDeleteDo you get bananas? I have a friend near Orlando and his 5 year old tree still has no fruit.
DeleteNo bananas yet (it's still a very young, small tree) - but I keep hoping!
DeleteBeautiful views. One day I will go to Hawaii
ReplyDeleteHope so!
DeleteGLORIOUS photographs to conclude this series of posts! We had a banana tree in our backyard when my family moved to Florida and thought the same thing you did about he wire-looking vines.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that photo of the egret reminded me of my years spent in South Florida because they are everywhere!
Those two drinks looks absolutely DELICIOUS!

Did you get many bananas from your tree? That long dangly blossom is so weird, isn't it?
DeleteWow, I am loving all the great photos you have been sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary!
DeleteHow ignorant am I? I'd never seen a banana tree before. I had no idea about those long dangly blossoms, I thought it was just solid rows of bananas!
ReplyDeleteA delicious drink and a fabulous view - what more could you want?
Well, I didn't know pineapples grew so close to the ground, until this trip. I guess we both need to travel more......to warm climates!!
DeleteA great view from the hotel indeed. Sure enough banana trees to keep banana lovers happy.
ReplyDeleteThe question is, does Pat eat bananas? LOL
DeleteAll in all, I think it was a wonderful vacation for you and your hubby! I hope you are planning more of them down the line!
