Since so many of you grow fruits and/or vegetables in your own yards, I thought I'd share some of our crops this year. I failed to take photos when everything was in full bloom, but this gives you some idea of what we've got going. My husband and daughter start everything from seed in early March and transplant everything outdoors in mid-May.

| On the deck, we have three containers of spinach and assorted lettuce. Once the June crop is gone, they plant more. This is what we have right now. |
![]() |
| Assorted peppers that did not do well this year. |
![]() |
| Green beans always do well for us. This is another second round of the harvest. |

| It was also a good year for cucumbers. |

| Not a good year for zucchini. We didn't get one. We did have a few yellow squash. |

I'm confused...you're growing Grandchildren in the garden? Looks like a pretty good crop.
ReplyDeleteIf only it were that easy!
DeleteWhat a cute little guy you've got there!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Craig. I can't remember, do you have three grandkids now?
DeleteDepends how you count 'em. ;)
DeleteSpeaking strictly biologically, our fifth is due in a month. . .
I guess you need to post more!
DeleteSure looks like plenty of green growing away. You even have some instant fertilizer with the new baby lol Congrats to all at your hall.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm wondering if there's anything in my garden you would eat?
DeleteSpinach I eat.
DeleteYou're quite limited!
DeleteFirst, a HUGE congrats on your new grandson. OMG....that picture of you and he is so precious! You can see the glow of joy on your face. Don't you just LOVE babies? They're so innocent, pure and so full of love!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful robust selection of crops this year! I'm so impressed that you even grow your own lettuce/spinach. I eat a lot of salads during the summers months, so I would love having my own garden to pull from. And wow....that cucumbers looks so hearty and fresh. I love cucumbers; especially the tiny persian cucumbers. But you have to eat them fast because they turn mushy so quickly.
Again, CONGRATS on your new family member. He's beautiful!
X
Thanks so much, Ron. I am normally not a baby person because the crying stresses me out. Fortunately, this little guy is a very content baby . . . So far!
DeleteI have not heard of Persian cucumbers, but I'd like to give them a try, so I'll be on the look out.
Congratulations on your grandson, you are so very proud I know...what a good looking boy I am happy for you.
ReplyDeleteWe are feeling very proud of him right now!
DeleteAdorable little boy! Great picture of the two of you! Congrats to all! Enjoy being a grandmother!!
ReplyDeleteFunny how no zucchini. I thought they just over populated at will. Otherwise, looked like a lot of other fine things grown in your "garden."
betty
Thanks, Betty! It is very exciting!
DeleteI remember getting a ton of zucchini at our old house, but we've not had much luck with it here. It's probably the soil because both locations got full sun.
Congrats! What a cute baby.
ReplyDeleteI don't grow anything because we don't have a yard but my brother does and each year he brings me some of what he grew.
It's fun to get something from someone else's garden. My daughter gives away a lot of tomatoes.
DeleteAnd yes, we think he's a cutie! Thanks!
Congratulations for a wonderful harvest and a new grandson. You look very happy as I am sure you are.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sage. Happy, indeed!
DeleteFirst of all, congratulation on the new grand baby! You look too young to be a grandma.
ReplyDeleteJealous on your garden crop; I don't have much luck and even less time for gardening.
Thank you! Did you say you had a mango or papaya tree? That would be fun. My friend in Orlando has a banana tree but not much luck with it.
DeletePapaya tree...and it got battered pretty badly during the hurricane. It may survive, we'll have to see. If it does, I'm getting a mango tree next!
DeleteYour garden has done much, much better than mine. Bit forget about that - look at that adorable grandbaby!!!!
ReplyDelete(Incidentally, 8 lbs 8 oz, 21 inches was exactly the same as my first son!)
What? I thought you always had good luck with your 'crops'!
DeleteThat's funny that they were the same size. Your son is tall now, isn't he?
Congrats!! So are you Grandma, Granny, Grammy, Nana, or some other variation?
ReplyDeleteEither way it looks great on you and he's adorable!
Oh, and the green stuffs not so bad either ;-)
I'm G. Starr. Don't ask, I've gotten a lot of grief from friends and family over it.
DeleteMaybe we'll see a post about your garden this year?
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteGrief? That's an awesome, original choice! So I will ask, though feel free to iggy it .... but I really wanna know!
DeleteAnd I suppose I could try and conjure up another garden post if I can find some pictures from later than the last one .... been a busy year and I was quite negligent in my documentation so ....
Oh, my goodness, what a beautiful baby! Congratulations, Bijoux! I wish him all the best that life has to offer! He's quite literally in good hands with you! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rob. Im going to get my hands on him today! Can't wait!
DeleteThat's quite a spread of vegetables you've got there. I'm far too lazy to grow my own veg, especially as we have an excellent greengrocer just down the road.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you're old enough to be a grandma!
It's nice to go pick some fresh lettuce right on our deck.
DeleteOh, I'm quite old enough to be a grandparent, unfortunately (on the age!)
boooyah! congrats on the grandson.
ReplyDeletei thought about growing some veggies, well no, herbs, but i'm not there yet. i love peppers, are those hot peppers? my mom has grown a few veggies and sent me pics. it's kind of surreal i guess to me, growing food out back and then eating it. i always tell peeps that i would my food from the grocery story, but i know what you have tastes much better. veggies might be okay, but i can't go fishing and then eat the fish. no way.
Thanks, Val. I grow basil, sage and rosemary indoors in my kitchen window. Very easy and no need to even wash it! The peppers are not hot ones because my daughter wouldn't eat that kind. She likes to pick a pepper and eat it with her lunch.
