Thinking Of You - Part 1

I'm guessing most of you are like me in that things you see when you are out and about often remind you of fellow bloggers. When I have my camera or phone with me, I try to capture those images. I've been meaning to turn these into a blog post for a while now, but I will have to do so in two parts because this is taking a lot of organizing! If you are a regular commenter on my blog, I will have a picture for you below or in my next installment. Enjoy and thanks for being a faithful follower.

Betty's blog is called 'A Bench With a View." Betty has been observing life more from her home work station than from benches lately. This is the best view I've ever had, while sitting on a bench. It was at Polo Beach, Wailea, Maui last year.

Have you ever read about something new and then all of a sudden, you start seeing whatever it was you heard about? A long time ago, Xavier introduced me to barn quilts on his blog. Now, whenever I see one, I think about Xavier. This is a barn quilt I discovered about 5 miles from where I live.

Ron loves the Big Apple so much, he has decided to move back there next year. Ron posts beautiful photos of his travels to NYC. My husband, on the other hand, hates having to go there on business. I will often ask him to send me a photo while he's there. Here's one he sent from a cab labeled, "Smell You Later, NYC."

Sage enjoys being out on the water, whether it's sailing, canoeing or kayaking. Here is a picture of our crooked river, the Cuyahoga. People really do kayak on it, a little further south of this industrial area downtown.

Jimmy writes about a lot of his hilarious adventures and recently mentioned how nobody knows how to pack groceries anymore. I wholeheartedly agree, especially when it comes to packing up the cloth bags. I took this photo after shopping for our July 4th cookout. The grocery store I went to doesn't allow shopping carts in the parking lot, so you have to pull up and have the car loaded by one of the baggers. Not only do they fail at bagging, 50% of the time, they ignore my bag holder I have in my trunk to prevent bags from toppling over. Kills me every time!

Crystal Chick is a very crafty blogger who designs jewelry and recently did a post with photos of her cactus gardens, made of painted rocks! I'm always amazed at her work. This is a photo of a fairy garden my middle child made this year. She went with a beach theme, but with succulents. It turned out really cute!

Craig, what can I say? You are one of my longest running blogger friends (I believe you go back with Xavier and Secret Agent Woman to 2009). Although I'm not a sports fan like you, I did attend 2 MLB games this summer. This here was indeed a beautiful night for baseball!

Pat Hatt and his cats have a blog called, "It's Rhyme Time." Pat is also an accomplished author of many, many books. His blog, though, is the cats' domain. I thought of Pat and his cats last fall, while touring the Castello di Amorosa in Napa. This cat was the king of the castle, lounging in the sun.

Stay tuned, everyone else . . .

  1. I like this Bijoux, and am honored to be mentioned along with a trunk of groceries...I'm serious this is great you are doing a great job honoring all of us who follow along and enjoy being your friend.

    Cool pictures by the way.

  3. OMG...what a sweet post, my friend! And thank you so much for including me in your thoughts. What faaaaabulous photographs! Being a cat lover, I especially love the one of the kitty!

It's been such a joy and pleasure blogging with you all these year; getting to know you. And even though we've never met (and we NEED to some day), I feel as if we are closely connected because of the years we've spent blogging with one another.

Thanks so much for being such a sincerely caring and loyal friend!

    1. We've sure had a lot of fun over the years, Ron. I'm excited about your upcoming move to YOUR fave city! Thank you for your friendship as well!

  4. First of all, thanks for the shout out and the great picture of a bench with a view! Life temporarily has taken us off the get out and see things so limited benches with view opportunities! Such a sweet post, looking forward to part 2. How interesting with your store about not allowing shopping carts and how the groceries are delivered. I was going to do a post once about one of the hardest jobs to do in Phoenix heat is cart retrieval (followed closely or tied by pool maintenance people.) I do my part by returning a cart to the store when I'm walking in to make their job one cart easier. Again, such a great post!

    1. I remember taking the picture and thinking, "Betty would love this!" So, you really did inspire this post. I hear you about the cart retrieval job. I feel bad when they try to push the big line of carts through snow and slush here!

  5. That is sure a neat way to work bloggers in indeed. The cat does rule all at our feed, castle whether real or not. I'd be waving goodbye to NY too. Can't take carts in the parking lot? Geez, strict much.

    1. It's a high end grocery store. Can't allow carts to damage people's Mercedes and BMW's! 😂

  6. No shopping carts in the parking lot? That's a new one on me. But I suppose it prevents them being abandoned in all sorts of strange places, which is what happens here.

Pat Hatt's cat looks very contented, with not a worry in the world. Until he (?) sees a mouse scurrying past....

    1. I think it's to prevent damage to cars, plus the chain is known for their customer service, so loading the groceries into your car for you is a perk.

  7. I recognize some of those bloggers you mentioned. I enjoyed this post.

  8. Well thank you for the mention, it is very fitting that you chose something near and dear to the love of my life. Soon(???), if the in-law obligations stabilize, we may be hanging Queenie's second quilt square on the house .... and you made me look, my little corner started in '07! Too bad the writing quality doesn't show its age ;-)

    1. I started blogging in 2008 when my oldest was graduating high school. For some reason, I thought you and Craig and FTN and Flutter were with me from the start, but we didn't all connect till 2009. None of my followers the first year still blog.

  9. Thanks, Beej; I'm honored. And good luck to yer Indians in the playoffs. . .

My current blog goes back to late 2009, but my 'old blog' (under the Desmond Jones pseudonym) actually goes back to 2006 and the 'FTN gang'. I'm pretty sure you were around back then. . .

  10. Nice to know this community is still out there and active. It seems like things have slowed down a bit on here since the late 2000s. But those of us who stayed seem to still be having adventures.

    1. Howdy! There have been a lot of bloggers who have left. It's always kind of sad when they don't say goodbye. Kind of makes me worried that something bad happened to them.

  11. This is a great idea! Every time I think of Napa Valley, I think of you.
I chuckled over your husband's disdain for NYC. I'm sure Ron would consider those fighting words!

    1. I'm glad I'm thought of when it comes to my favorite place to be!

My husband lived and worked in the Big Apple for one year. That was enough for him! It does crack me up that he and Ron are complete opposites in that regard.

  12. What a wonderful tribute to your blogging friends, and what a beautiful way to say that you can be friends, even though you haven't met in "real" life (yet)!

  13. Whatever you do, don't ever think of me because that'll give you a headache, not to mention the urge to eat a combination of rye bread and blue grapes.

    Hope you're doing fine.

    Now, where's that wine?

    1. i guess I'll think of you if I ever eat rye bread, but I don't really eat much bread these days. Do you like avocados, by chance?

  15. What a great idea--and yes, even though I started this blog after leaving behind the desert, I have done a lot of water activities for the past 14 years. Thanks, I also liked the big boats on the Great Lakes!

  16. What a lovely idea!!! Oh, and look how late I am to my little shout out... don't even deserve it now. :(
I love her fairy garden! I got lots of supplies to make my granddaughter one, and added to it as I saw things. She had fun with it. There are lots more supplies in a box in my studio for one I wanted to make myself... ah, but the time just got away from me... maybe next Spring?
