Thinking Of You - Part 2

As promised, here are the next set of photos that I took with you in mind:
(If you are a regular commenter and don't see a photo for yourself, please check my previous post of Part 1)

Last year, Secret Agent Woman did a post showing how she and her husband built a Little Free Library structure for their town. I thought it was the neatest thing, so imagine my surprise when a Little Free Library showed up in my town! I was so excited to take this picture for her.

Sometimes, bloggers write very timely posts. Joe wrote about whether or not to vote on his P&G proxy materials. Wouldn't you know it, the next day this arrived in my mailbox. Thanks for the preview, Joe!

I posted a picture of this year's fairy garden in my previous post for Crystal Chick. This photo is for Kat. She introduced the concept of fairy gardens to me years ago on her blog. My daughter made this one last year, and it truly had a fairy theme going.

Pixel Peeper often posts about foods she finds at Aldi. She is a native of Germany. I thought about her a lot last year, when my son was living and working in Munich. He sent me this picture because he thought it was funny that the grocery store near him provided magnifying glasses to read the fine print. I might do a post in the future about all his fun food finds in Europe.

Mark is currently wrapping up a trip to Rapid City and the surrounding area. I had a blast following him on his blog and Instagram and seeing all the sights, as we did a family trip out there in 2007. I didn't know Mark back then, but this picture of the Badlands is for him because he didn't have time to visit this time around. It was a cloudy, misty day when we were there, but very cool, nonetheless!

Mary usually posts reviews, photos and videos, but nothing cracks me up more than her posts about her weird neighbors! However, my neighbor takes the cake . . . please enlarge and look at the white object in the center of the photo. Yes, you are seeing that correctly . . . a urinal. This is the beauty I have in my backyard! Fortunately, we have a wood pile to block the view, so at least I don't see it from my house.

Just a few months before I flew to Hawaii on this airplane, I read Rob's post about his trip to Hawaii. Rob likes to fly just about as much as I do. I think he will agree with me that it's not just the actual flight, it's all the worry that leads up to it (Will my multiple alarms go off? Will my flight be delayed, causing me to miss my connection? Will I get sick right before my expensive trip? Will I get a flat tire on the way to the airport? Will I arouse suspicion while going through security for no apparent reason? The list can go on and on for me.) Knowing that Rob managed to get to Hawaii and back gave me at least a little bit of hope that I could do it too! Thanks, Rob!

One thing I have in common with Nick is a love of books. While I don't think we necessarily have the same reading tastes, I think I can safely say that he has about as much interest in Amish fiction as I do. Is it just my library, or does everyone's library have a freakish preponderance of these sort of books? Who is reading this??

  4. This is an interesting neighbor that you have, I can't say that I have ever ran across a urinal attached to a tree before, just be careful of unwanted photo bombs ha ha.

I love these posts you have done highlighting your commenters, very thoughtful in my opinion.

    1. I thought when we moved 5 years ago, we were escaping the hillbillies, but I guess I was wrong. They keep a dog chained up in their front yard, too.

  5. OMG....I LOVE the picture of the urinal - priceless!!!!

Your photo of the Badlands is stunning!

Isn't it something how when you blog with others, especially people you've blogged with for awhile, you very often post about the same things? It's like you connect on a really cool level.

Another GREAT Thinking of you Post!

P.S. the Little Free Library is adorable!

  6. That is such a cute little library! LOL with the urinal; what neighbors they must be! I too don't know who reads those book Amish based but the majority of discounted books I get through different sites to purchase feature them. One every decade to read is good enough for me!

    1. No clue, but I know they haven't lived in the US for long, so maybe it's a cultural thing...lol

  9. Aww, thank you! We talked about going to the Badlands right up until our last day, but just ran out of time. Not a huge deal...I have a feeling we'll end up with plenty of opportunities to see the Badlands again real soon.

  10. Thanks for the mention! Not sure how our reading tastes compare, but all my favourite books are on my profile if you want to check it out. Indeed, my interest in Amish books is zero! I've just read Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue. All about a Cameroon couple who try to make a go of it in the US, get into difficulties and eventually return to Cameroon. A good read.

Interesting comments on your other blogmates....

    1. You do have a big list, of which I've read maybe 8. I think we've talked about how awful I thought the We Need To Talk About Kevin book was!

  11. Oh, Bijoux, thank you so much for including me in this wonderful post!

I'm so happy that you got some inspiration from my ravings. Your kindness and thoughtfulness have been a great inspiration to me.

Flying is a scary proposition for people like us, but we always come back with great stories! Take care!
