10. Received a trophy- Yeah, our local youth baseball was one of the 'a trophy for everyone' idiot pioneers. Mom whooped me when I tossed it out because we didn't earn it.

13. Had a pet (besides fish)- Domesticated Varmints are my life. Kinda
14. Used a gas grill- Grill Monster

My brother offered to teach me how to rebuild transmissions when he worked in a shop. he had rebuilt his van tranny twice and both times it failed within 6 months so I passed.
DeleteWe've had transmissions professionally rebuilt twice. Both times they failed within 18 months (with 12 month warranties).
Ex son-in-law rebuilt my truck transmission twice under supervision of a Professor at mechanic college who specialized in trannys. The first failed outright and the second threw a code after three months. I don't wanna learn how!!
Now manual trannys? Yes indeed. Those actually make sense, no need for pixie dust and wishful thinking ....
And I kinda fibbed up there, technically my logging boots had 2-inch heels to help in mud and also to get a hold when walking on slippery branches. That's my story.
Re your own list, I've done a high dive into a swimming pool (at school), had surgery with general anesthesia and had plenty of cavities. But none of the others. How on earth did you manage to get to your present age without a cavity - that's amazing!

My dentist just retired and he's only had one other middle age patient without a cavity besides me.
DeleteI doubt there are many Americans who have never eaten at McDonalds. I've never had a Big Mac, though.
I love smoked mussels and oysters. I've had several surgeries under general anesthesia.

ReplyDeleteLet’s see - I’ve never been on one of those bigger cruise ships, never taken my kids to Disney World, never had my hair professionally colored, never been to a Mega Church.
I was going for things I thought most people (woman, at least) had done. We never took our kids to Disney as a family, but I did chaperone my son's marching band trip to Disney and had a blast.

Wow, I think it's positively AWESOME that you have NEVER had a cavity!?!? Bravo! I've had a ton of them, plus many root canals, bridges, and crowns. I too have never eaten mussels or oysters. Only once did I have general anesthesia, when I had my tonsils taken out. Other than take (even when I had my lung drain two years ago) I had a local anesthesia. And be grateful that you never drank a Mountain Dew because they are disgusting! It's like drinking a can of pure sugar. Yuck!

I know, I'm so lucky to have never needed dental work at all. I did have one wisdom tooth removed at age 40 with a few shots of novocaine. It wasnt pleasant! Lol!

This was a cute list to read :) I haven't had surgery either with general anesthesia. The thought of it really scares me a bit because I've heard horror stories where the person wasn't completely out so they still felt the pain but couldn't convey that to the doctor. I've never had a traffic ticket or been stopped by the police. You got to move to Arizona. Flip flops I think are the "native" shoe to wear :)

Aren't people surprised by the lack of surgeries? Most our age have had something! Wow on the no traffic tickets! I've had three. I'm super picky about shoes and sandals.

ReplyDeleteMyself, I've never been off the North American continent (or, for that matter, more than a 4-hour drive from the US). Been to both Canada and Mexico, tho. . . And I've never been on a cruise, either.
And I, too, think it's pretty amazing that you've never had a cavity. . .
The farthest I've been is to islands in the Caribbean, but that may change next year. We will see . . .

ReplyDeleteI've never smoked, never even tried a cigarette, which some people don't believe. And I've never tried marijuana, ever, which pretty much no one believes. It's the truth, though. I'm a rule follower, I was home schooled, and I work in the court system, so I'm not sure why everyone refuses to believe it.
Oh, I've never played a team sport, either.
