Week 34: Hello Baby!

Week 34 brought something REALLY new to my life: a Granddaughter! My oldest daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She is a healthy and happy little gal weighing in at 8# 7 oz. and 21 inches long.

I spent a few nights with my grandson at their house while mom and dad were in the hospital with baby. My grandson is not quite two years old, so still working on the English language. Much of what he says is still gibberish, besides his favorite words and phrases, such as banana, hot coffee, and okie dokie.

When I came across this toy, I asked him what it was. It sounded like he was saying, "Beekel."

Then I looked at the tag . . . LOL, I guess that kid really does know what he's talking about!

Here he is giving his new baby sister some love.

Unfortunately, a few days after they came home, my son-in-law called me at 6 a.m., which you know is not going to be good news. My daughter was taken by ambulance to the hospital with vomiting, lower back pain, and chest pains. Short story is that she had a severe kidney infection. We are still unsure if she picked up something in the hospital when giving birth or if she had a festering uti that went unnoticed because of normal pregnancy symptoms. She was in the hospital for 3 days and I was back at their house, taking care of a toddler and newborn while my son-in-law was at the hospital. She is doing much better and is back home and hopefully things are back to normal for all of us.

In other news, I had taken my ipad to their house and had used it to try to log in to my blogger account last week. Google decided that was suspicious behavior and I was locked out of my account! I even had them send me a link to log in, using the old email account that I originally used to sign up with 10 years ago. Still wouldn't allow me, all because I was in a 'new location.' I find this so bizarre; so in today's world, where you can use free wifi most places, you can't sign in to Blogger if you've never signed in with that wifi before?? Makes no sense!

To add insult to injury, I now have this header on my page and can't seem to get rid of it:

Warning: Google prevented a suspicious attempt to sign in to your account using your password. Review activity now.

I've reviewed it multiple times, saying that it WAS ME, but it doesn't seem to do any good.

  1. Ah, so that was your emergency. Glad everything is all right now, and hopefully stays that way. I taught my nephew a few words through his gobbley gook, he can say wanker clearly lol And Orlin can relate he had a uti for nearly 2 weeks, just came off pills last week. All because he ate dog food, ugg, dumb cat.

I've had the whole suspicious thing happened, but it never locked me out, just sent me an email saying a new login or whatever. Even let me log in when I was in NY. Weird it locked you out closer to home.

    1. Isn't it fun to teach them new words? I commented on all the acorns on their deck and he's been talking about acorns ever since (and throwing them!)

Yes, I've had the email about me logging into my gmail from a different location, but I probably haven't logged in to Blogger elsewhere. Annoying!

  2. First, CONGRATULATIONS on your new baby granddaughter. OMG...I am sooooooo excited and happy for you! I LOVE new born babies so much. I just want to hug them and kiss them, they're so precious and cute.

Second, I am happy and relieved to hear that your daughter is okay. Whew! You had me scared there for a moment, as I'm you and your family were.

Third, doesn't Google SUCK!?!? Over the past year I've been so frustrated with all the constant changes and adjustments. And what's funny is that all the changes are for the worst! Sorry you had to go through that, but I've heard from other people that the same thing happened to them. WTF?!

"using the old email account that I originally used to sign up with 10 years ago. Still wouldn't allow me, all because I was in a 'new location.'" That is strange because I log in to my Google account all the time using WiFi from different places and it's never don't that to me. Now watch, just because I said that it probably will. LOL!

That picture of your grandson with his baby sister is so precious! What a great capture because you can feel the LOVE.

Have a great week, my friend. And I hope everything works out with Google.

    1. Thank you so much, Ron. She's a little doll, that's for sure. We've been enjoying her so much; she's been so alert!

Yes, I don't know what my issue was, but it was clearly just Blogger and not my other google accounts, like gmail. Now I just want to get rid of the warning header!

  3. Wow!!! Congratulations!!!! One of each is always a nice start to a family. :) I had two grandsons come along and then two granddaughters and for now that's all. :) It's always so exciting when a little one comes into the world. Enjoy! - I'm so happy to hear that your daughter is on the mend. What the heck? You would think they'd have caught that *before* she left the hospital. - I had Blogspot a long time ago and now I'm on Wordpress. Similar things have happened to me and they seemed to go away on their own because like you, nothing I tried worked and my blog was telling everyone that it wasn't safe to visit! - The pic of your grandbabies should be framed and brought out during the teenage years. :)

    1. Thanks so much, my friend! LOL, I have been wondering on the sibling dynamic of big brother and little sister. It's a first in our extended families, so should be fun to watch.

  4. Congratulations to all! Beautiful children! Such exciting times but sorry about your daughter's kidney infection. Glad to hear things are coming along and she seems to be on the road to recovery. I bet you were tired taking care of the newborn and the almost 2 year old! I love that little toy, no matter what it is called :) Grandson talks in the third person here "_____ goes to school" "_____ got an owie" and so on. It is interesting how they develop language and when they clearly can be understood.

Every time I sign on with a new device for facebook, bank accounts, Amazon, etc., I have to have them send me a confirmation code that it is me and give them the confirmation code back. I haven't signed in on blogger with any new devices thankfully because I'm not sure I would remember the password that I use but I do have a system where I use 1 password for money issues and another for non money issues. Not sure it is the best system but haven't been hacked into yet, so crossing fingers here.

    Again, congratulations!!!!!!

    1. Thanks, Betty. Yes, I was EXHAUSTED watching them. And hungry, as there was never much time to eat! I find myself talking in the third person to my grandson when I'm talking about what I'm doing, so I'm sure that promotes its use. The Blogger thing is just frustrating!

  7. Congrats on your new granddaughter! Glad the 6 am emergency wasn't anything too serious. Yes, what's the point of a Blogger password if they won't let you use it in a strange location? That's nuts.

    1. Thanks, Nick. I don't know why Blogger refused me in a new location. I refuse to give them my phone number for secondary verification, though!

  10. Oh, my goodness, that had to be so scary for your daughter! When 4M (the only one of our kids to go past his due date) was a newborn, Jenn had some microfragments of placenta left inside her, which caused a sudden drop in her blood pressure, and she lost her vision, though she was still conscious. For a couple hours, I was staring at the possibility of raising four kids, including a newborn, without their mom. So, I can relate. . .

But, Doting Big Brother is incredibly adorable!

That whole 'someone tried to log into your account from an unfamiliar host' thing is incredibly annoying. . .

    1. Hi Craig! How are you? Yes, it was a scary situation, and she still has a follow-up with the cardiologist for the chest pains. I think my son-in-law was feeling exactly what you described you went through with Jenn.

My grandson cracks me up with the way he hugs. It's basically just a head tilt in your direction. But I'll take it!

  11. Congratulations on your new granddaughter! Scary scenario, having to go back to the hospital for an emergency stay, while you have a newborn at home. I hope all is well with your daughter by now.

I haven't had any issues with Blogger or Google yet, but I'm always afraid that if some day I should, I'll be forever locked out of my blog and my gmail. Hopefully that "suspicious attempt" header will go away on its own after a while...
