Were there 53 weeks this year? Somehow, I managed to wind up with an extra week while writing these posts. Regardless, my trying new things was a success for 2019. Here are the stats:
Restaurants I've Never Been Before: 20
New Foods: 13
New Breweries: 8
New Purchases: 3
New Wineries: 4
New Coffee Shops: 4
And lest you think my new things only had to do with consumption, I'm proud to announce:
New Experiences: 47!
Even I was surprised by that one! New experiences ran the gamut from college basketball game to volunteering to exploring new cities. I think the highlight might have been my overnight birthday trip to Ohio wine country, but I enjoyed each and every new experience. San Diego was unforgettable and I had lots of fun on field trips with friends. Thanks for riding along!
No, I'm not going to do this in 2020. I've given some thought to a different blog theme. It really aided in ideas for posts! I'm still thinking on it, but am open to suggestions. However, my husband and I will certainly continue on the quest to try new things because . . . it's just fun! We are already planning vacations to two new places in 2020, which will get me through the winter months.
This wasn't new, but I will end the year with a picture of me partying with Santa Claus in October at First Pour, a Cleveland tradition, when Christmas Ale is first tapped.

Cheers! May your Christmas be full of joy and your New Year full of happiness and good health!
Bravo to your 47 new experiences this year! Well done! And thanks for sharing your ride. Much enjoyed!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about your idea for a different blog theme. As you know, I've changed my blog theme several times in the past 12 years. It feels refreshing!
LOVE the photo of you partying with Santa. What a hoot! You've got such a great smile!
Merry Christmas, dear friend! Wishing you and your loved ones a faaaaaaaaaabulous New Year!
Cheers and X
Thanks, Ron, for your continued support! We've been doing this a while, haven't we? I can't decide on what I want to do with my blog next year. Some ideas are memories based on the month, reviews of products and businesses, more pictures. Unsure at this point. I hope your holidays are grand. XO
DeleteThat's a very impressive tally. Brilliant that you managed to keep the new things going for the whole year. Twenty new restaurants is a pretty good total.
ReplyDeleteMonth-based memories would be interesting!
Have a great Christmas, Bijoux.
Thank you! I was happy with the results. I hope your holidays are wonderful, too!
DeleteThat's a lot of new. I tried a new golf grip.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's something! Merry Christmas!
DeleteI think what you did was interesting - I loved it and 47 new experiences!
ReplyDeleteI am going to take this next week off for Christmas - but I just wanted to say MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Happy New Year!
Love, sandie
Thanks for joining in, Sandie. I'm glad to have found your blog!
DeleteI'm glad you had fun with the new things this year. I enjoyed your posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary. I sure do appreciate your friendship.
DeleteThat is a lot of new experiences indeed. Great that you are just going to keep doing them for fun. Hope you have a great Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI won't feel pressure to come up with a new idea every week, but at least I got my husband to try new things with me and he enjoyed it as well.
DeleteWell, it's obvious that 2019 was extremely successful for you. Your goals were conquered and I admire your ability to persevere. And you learned new things. Exploring and experiencing is extremely important...and fun.
ReplyDeleteI hope your Christmas is fantastic and your New Year filled with new adventures.
The Santa photo is great!
I think most of us tend to get complacent as we age, so it was a good challenge for me. Plus, it gave me something to blog about every week. I think I had twice as many posts this year compared to last few years.
DeleteThanks for the good wishes, and in case you didn't know, I'm the brunette and the blonde is a friend of mine.
Well, see, since New Year's and Dec31 are both Tuesdays this year, the year began and ended with 'half-weeks', so depending on when you count them, you could end up with 53. . .
ReplyDeleteI'd love the chance to get just a little bit set in my ways, but I don't think i'm gonna be afforded that opportunity. . . ;)
And did I ever tell you that Santa Claus is my brother? ;)
Okay, that explains how I ended up with the extra week! Thank you. I don't think I knew Santa was your brother?

DeleteAlways good to find a believer!
DeleteYou go girl! You did great with this! And in addition to the new things that you did, you also got a new granddaughter and a new daughter-in-law! Both wins!!!! It was fun to see where your attempts for new adventures took you over this past year! Certainly was never dull! And I look forward to where your travels take you in 2020! Love the picture with you and Santa!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy New Year!
betty
Aww, thanks for your support, Betty! I value your friendship!
DeleteMerry Christmas!! 47 new experiences is definitely impressive. I think you should go for year two and inspire us all to try new things. :) Wishing nothing but the best for you and yours in 2020.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jax! I hope your new year is full of good things, new and old!
DeleteMerry Christmas, Bijoux!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rob! Glad you were able to comment!
DeleteMerry christmas! <3
ReplyDeleteSame to you!
DeleteYou've had an amazing year full of adventure and new experiences, and that has been nothing short of inspirational! I'm so glad to have gotten to know you over the years. Hope you and your family have a great New Year's holiday and a fantastic 2020!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Mark! All my best to you and Tara!
DeleteOmgosh! I'm going to put new things on my list of things to do this year. I don't know how many I'll get in but my plan is to squeeze every minute out of 2020 that I can! :) You have given me some GREAT ideas! - Wineries, breweries, no I'm not an alcoholic... Hahahaha - Thank you and Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's been easy considering how many new breweries and wineries have popped up over the last few years. Good luck on the challenge!
DeleteThat's fantastic - I think that was an amazing challenge for yourself and had to have broadened you over the course of the year.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved trying new things, so it got my spouse out of his comfort zone more than me.
DeleteIt's too late to wish you a Merry Christmas, but not to late to wish you a happy New Year...so: Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed all your new experiences in 2019. Sadly, I failed at mine...just couldn't keep up with it.
New theme for 2020? Do you like to cook? I always like it when people post pictures of when they cook new recipes. Just an idea. I'm still thinking about a theme for mine.
I look forward to your posts, but I know how busy work has been keeping you.
