My dear blogger friend Kari at A Grace Full Life did a post about 365 grateful days here. She inspired me to start a gratitude journal this year. I'm not putting pressure on myself to write down something every day, but I'm planning on keeping a monthly list of what I was grateful for that month. I will share some of my list in a new series entitled Gratitude Thursday. I'm grateful for:
A doctor who took my flu/pneumonia symptoms seriously.
Antibiotics

Working on this Yellowstone jigsaw puzzle with Middle Child. She gave me this for Christmas and we always spend the months of January/February doing a large puzzle on the dining room table.
Having a car repair shop that I trust.

Watching our grandkids enjoy Disney On Ice. They were mesmerized.
Trying a new recipe (eggplant lasagna) that all of us loved. I don't know why I've ignored eggplant for so long. It is delicious!

Reading a novel that I couldn't put down. If you've ever been in an obsessive, toxic relationship, this story is very relatable.
Snoop Dog's narration of Planet Earth videos on Tiktoc. They always make me laugh out loud.

Discovering a new TV show to binge. This one is hilarious, especially if you've served on a jury. It's a documentary of a fake trial, where everyone is an actor except for the guy in the middle, who doesn't know it's not real. You might recognize James Marsden on the left, who plays himself.

Finding a Michael Kors dress at TJMaxx for $39.99. We have an event coming up in a month and I was stressing about what I would wear. This dress fits the bill (and me).
My dental hygenist, who I met 25 years ago when our youngest kids were in the same gymnastics class.
My cousin who has visited my mom a number of times since she moved into assisted living. I barely know him (I have 21 cousins on my mom's side and he was quite a bit older than me). His father was one of my mother's older brothers.
What were you grateful for in January?

I haven't done a jigsaw puzzle in eons! Seeing yours instantly reminded me of going to my
ReplyDeletegrandmothers' house for dinner and doing puzzles with my younger brother. My grandmother had TONS of them (big and small) that she would bring out for us, which we would construct on a card table she had set up in the living room. I love the bright colors of the one you and Middle Child pictured here. Beautiful! I find doing jigsaw puzzles therapeutic!
When I had a car that was so important, because they are not all trustworthy.
"Watching our grandkids enjoy Disney On Ice. They were mesmerized." -- just from the photograph I could see just how mesmerizing it was. Isn't it magical to see things through the eyes of a child?
Okay, and I am LOVING that dress! Sexy! And what a deal for $39.99! We had a TJMaxx not far from my apartment, which unfortunately closed (Bummer). I used to get such great deals there on so many different things.
And speaking of hygienist's, the one I used to have moved out of town several months ago, so I had to try a new one at my dental office. I was very apprehensive because I loved my previous hygienist. But I have to say, the new one was fabulous!
Great list for you gratitude post, my friend! Enjoyed! X
Two things I feel grateful for:
*My new job, which I got back in November. I love my boss and the company I represent.
*That we FINALLY got snow this winter! Lol!
Yes, puzzles are very therapeutic! It’s fun to have something to do with Middle Child when we are stuck inside. But holy cow, is that red part of the puzzle impossible!
DeleteWe had so much fun at Disney On Ice. It was our second year in a row of taking them. Our granddaughters love Frozen and our grandson loves Cars and both movies were featured in the show.
When I first saw the dress, I was hesitant, but once I tried it on, I knew it was the right one for me. I bought another Michael Kors dress there about 7 years ago and it is my favorite dress. Some designers just fit me so much better. My other fave is Calvin Klein. I can always count on TJMaxx to come through!
I’m so glad you like your new job and I hope you have some fun people to work with. And I know you love your snow. It’s still early, so you’ll probably get more of that 4 letter word in the next two months.🤣 XO
In January I was grateful for Poker Face [TV show], a husband who took my car to be serviced so I didn't have to deal with any mechanics, and discovering that Whole Foods has a very good red wax gouda that puts Kroger's offering to shame.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I’m in charge of car maintenance here. We don’t have any Whole Foods nearby. I get most of my cheese from Aldi. Poker Face looks like it has some fun guest appearances.
DeleteYou have a lot to be grateful for, as most of us do we just need to take the time to realize it! I'm going to check out that novel. I love the dress! TJMaxx is my favorite place to shop! I found a pair of white MK jeans there last year that I love! I recently found a good eggplant parm recipe that I'm going to try. I've never made it before. I have to check out those Snoop Dogg videos. I saw one from Morgan Freeman once that was hilarious! In January I guess I was grateful for celebrating my birthday while still being healthy and able!
ReplyDeleteWe do just need to take the time to focus on being thankful. I used to be intimidated by eggplant because recipes said you had to salt it and soak it before using. I’ve tried a number of recipes lately, none of which had those instructions and it turns out fine. Happy belated birthday!🥳
DeleteMy kids introduced us to a few videos with Snoop Dog - I'm thinking of one with snakes chasing, was it prairie dogs? - so dang funny. I'd forgotten about that. Love the dress. Oh how I love finding a great wardrobe item at a great price.
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful that I was able to fly to Colorado Springs last weekend for the art exhibit dedicated to my aunt. It was important to my uncle, who passed away this morning. Timing - wow. I'm also grateful that he didn't suffer long. He just started hospice on Monday.
I'm hoping not to be premature, but I started a new med last night (one that I've had for months, but decided to wait until I'd exhausted all other options) and I slept like a bsby. Hoping this is the answer for me and not just a fluke.
Grateful that basketball season is almost over. Obviously. ;)
Yes! The snake and prairie dog! Hilarious! I’m so sorry about your uncle, but glad he didn’t have to suffer. Glad you made it back home safely and timely. Fingers crossed about new med! Sleep is definitely something to be grateful for.
DeleteCan you believe I've never made a recipe with eggplant other than grilling slices on the grill? I guess I need to make eggplant parm. one of the recipes I make this year because I do love it. It's honestly just not crossed my mind to make. That dress is SO pretty and just sexy enough. I love it when I find something that fits well and doesn't cost me a ton of money. TBG watched Jury Duty and told me about it. He also enjoyed it. Isn't it so much fun to watch children see different things for the first time and their entire face just seems to light up? I'm sure Disney on Ice was amazing. Take care my friend!!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe you haven’t used eggplant in recipes. The lasagna I made just basically substituted eggplant for the noodles. I used ground turkey in place of ground beef for the sauce. No ricotta, just mozzarella. It was so good! I’m glad to hear TBG liked Jury Duty too. My grandkids bring me so much joy. Have a great weekend, Lori.
DeleteGreat job on the gratitude, Bijoux. Looks like you have plenty to be thankful for and I concur with you about Jury Duty. It was such a nice surprise and I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteGlad to find another fan. Hope your February is full of good stuff, Mr. Shife.
DeleteI'm thankful for a working computer and 2 working lasers. In the last month I got the blue screen of death on my laptop and had to buy a new one. Then I had a hell of a time pairing the lasers to the new laptop. 3 weeks I was out of work and that sucked, but I am grateful to be back on track.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, that dress is smoking! What a fantastic find!
I just copied the book and the tv series. I have a goal to read 25 books this year. I know, not many but my time for pleasure reading has dwindled significantly these past few years. Allison and I like to make dinner together every night then watch a television show. We're doing Santa Clarita Diet right now, but we'll be wrapping it up soon and will need something new to binge.
What a nightmare with the computer and lasers. I’ve had so many problems with my wireless printer that I just want to go back to cords and wires! 🤣 Sorry it got you so far behind in work. I’ve not heard of the Santa Clarita Diet show. I’ll look that up. LMK if you watch Jury Duty.
DeleteI was grateful for all the snow! Winter weather lover that I am, while most people complained, I reveled in it.
ReplyDeleteHaving served on a jury, the documentary sounds like an interesting concept. I'll be sure to check it out. Maybe later today.
It’s been the third cloudiest January in the past 70 years here. No bueno! LMK if you try Jury Duty. The absurdity of it made me laugh, but was also what made it realistic! People are wack.
DeleteI love that you wrote this post! I love all of your grateful things!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is gorgeous. Take pictures of yourself wearing it, please!
When you realize you have a good thing, it is pretty awesome, isn't it? I'm grateful for you and this community. Every day. 😘❤️
I’m thankful for you too, my friend❤️ Have a super weekend!
DeleteWhat am I grateful for? For the signs of spring, with trees and plants coming to life. For so many absorbing books. For living in a country that isn't being bombed to bits. For the free travel with my travel pass. And of course for my partner of 42 years.
ReplyDeleteYou've had the same dental hygienist for 25 years? That must be some kind of record!
Lots to be thankful for! I’m excited to see signs of Spring, but none here yet.
DeleteLots to be thankful for. Right now I'm thankful I'm getting over this cold.
ReplyDeleteSorry you’ve been sick, Mary. Feel better.
DeleteOooh I love this Bijoux!!! And you reminded me that it's time to start another puzzle, now that I'm home. I am grateful for everything but especially being able to go on a fabulous trip to Mexico in January. We've never taken a trip in January before and it was the perfect antidote for the grey skies!
ReplyDeleteWe are almost finished with that puzzle; it’s a challenging one! I’m excited for our trip to warmer weather. It will be such a relief to see the sun.
DeleteWhat a lovely idea! I do something called "Every Day Win" where I try to find something positive and put it down in my journal (EDW, as I call it.)
ReplyDeleteSome days its tough to find something, but I always feel better when I do.
I'm grateful for my family, my home, my job, and, you, of course!
Yes,some days it’s hard to think of something, but even having a good cup of coffee is a win. I think your journal is wonderful!
DeleteBijoux, since I just celebrated a major birthday milestone this weekend (thanks for the well wishes) I am thankful and very grateful not to suffer from the multitude of illnesses of some others. I still have all my original parts and hope it stays that way. I am thankful to be able to get up early every day, walk to the apt gym and then walk on a treadmill to fulfill my personal goal of 10,000 steps/daily. I know that a lesser number is OK, but watching a movie, listening to an audiobook or podcast while walking is a great way to accomplish two goals at once.
ReplyDeleteEggplant is really good and maybe you will try eggplant parm in the future? I have never had it in lasagna.
There is nothing more important than your health, so that’s most definitely something to be thankful for. I love listening to podcasts on my walks as well. I’m finding that eggplant is more versatile than I had previously thought. Enjoy your birthday!
DeleteI hope you are feeling better! The puzzle looks like a booger, but you know I'd be up to it. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a post coming out tomorrow about Jury Duty. I will have to look for that show; it sounds funny!
It's always so wonderful when you can find the Right Dress at The Right Price for an event!
And I can tell that your cousin visiting your Mom fills your heart; hopefully they have some good chats together.
I'm thankful for so much, I should really write it all down too.
I’m better, though I had a sore throat and swollen tonsils the last two weeks. Weird because I’ve been a hermit. That puzzle was challenging! Jury Duty was such a good show. I watched it on Freevee.
DeleteOoh, I love this idea. January was pretty rough for us, but I'm thankful that everyone at our vet's office was so kind when Frankie died, and for all of the friends and neighbors who checked on us and/or loaned us space heaters when our heat was out.
ReplyDeleteI’m so sorry that your January sucked. I hope this month, things are going better. XO
DeleteNice list, love the puzzle, very pretty and special to be able to do with your grands. I guess the first thing that comes to mind for being grateful in January is that we did not get Covid from our daughter who tested positive right at the end of her visit, that we got out of town before the weather turned icky, and that our winter lodgings have been filled with our winter lodging friends and lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteMy grands are too little for that puzzle, but I did it with my daughter that lives with us. I’m glad you didn't get Covid!
DeleteThat's a nice list! Many, many things to be grateful for, so maybe I'll make a post of them soon. Or, you know, 6 months from now after I disappear and then reappear. haha
ReplyDeleteThere's a puzzle on our dining room table right now! And I love eggplant all the ways... sauteed, baked, lasagna, rollatini, parm, in dip, etc. Mmm!
It's (Roaming with) Mary, btw, wasn't able to sign in for some reason??
DeleteBlogger is weird sometimes, so thanks for letting me know who this is! We started a new puzzle here and it's really hard because all the pieces are the same shape/size! Very frustrating! I hope you keep posting, even if it's sporadically.
