It's that time again! Weird finds, saved for YOU!

| My kids never got over the fact that one of their aunts loves the scent of skunks. Last time we were at her house, I snapped this photo of a bag she had hanging by the door. |
![]() |
| This junk mail was addressed to 'Man (our last name).' I texted it to my son, asking if he wanted me to forward it to him. My husband is currently in retirement denial. |

| This bumper sticker leaves me with so many questions. Maybe wish for a clean car? |
![]() |
| Another great find on Facebook Marketplace. Note the suggested use at the top of the picture. |

| The weather has been bipolar lately. 60-degree weather and the chance of snow? |
![]() |
| This week has something for everyone except me. I want to see a number starting with an 8. |
![]() | ||
Why is this not national news??
|
![]() |
| Here's one is for Suz and Kari! What sort of hijinks could be happening up in there? "I'm shaking. I'm physically shaking." |
![]() |
| This was on the dashboard of a car I parked beside. I was sort of jealous. |

| For years, I've complained about the preponderance of Amish fiction at the library. Now we have to put up with it on our television sets. |

The bigfoots are all converging on Ohio because they heard about the aunt with that bag and figured anyone who likes a skunk's smell can tolerate theirs as well. Or maybe they just want to enjoy that nice warm snow you're getting. (I cannot believe anyone likes skunk smell.)
ReplyDelete"Man" on the envelope is probably short for "man cave" -- must be a supply of towels for the towel dispenser. I assume man caves don't have Chinese scented hand cream, though.
God doesn't want all that Amish fiction on his TV either, and the meteor was his attempt to destroy it at the source, but his aim isn't so good these days.
That owl is a peeping tom and you should report him to the cops. Or maybe just give him some emotional support ice cream and see if he's happy with that.
Thanks for the variegated report. I can see our "keep Portland weird" people have some competition.
You really covered the bases here! That owl is a total peeping tom. I'm a little bit afraid of him. I had to laugh at your Keep Portland Weird. Yes, we could definitely give that city a run for its money.
DeleteI have never heard of anyone enjoying the smell of skunk. That is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe old towel dispenser is just disgusting. I wouldn't touch that thing if someone paid me to, let alone pay for it and bring it home.
The temperatures have been crazy here too. One day 70's next day 20's. It is 38 and snowing a bit right now but Friday-Sunday is supposed to be in the 80's. Deciding what to wear for the day has become my latest challenge.
Those vehicles creep me out and I always wonder when I see them what is going on. Our grandson calls them kid napping vans.
A few years ago I remember watching that Eli Weaver story.
Isn't that towel dispenser gross? WHO would buy such a thing?? Yes, it's hard to know what to wear everyday. I'll have the heat on in the car in the morning, but then need the a/c by the afternoon. It's been nuts! The Sprinter van is a Real Housewives thing. They always travel in them and I had never even heard the term before watching those shows. I've never heard of Eli Weaver and I'm sort of tired of Amish everything, to be honest.
DeleteI mean, I don't know where to start. Bigfoot sightings! An owl on your neighbour's car! Emotional support ice cream! Is the aunt who likes skunk scents a pothead (I can never tell the difference between the scents!). Those vintage hand towels - what a gross and weird concept. I mean, how often would they be removed and washed? Never? I always wondered about that, in gas stations of my youth. There were a few Amish Christmas romances on display a few months ago at the library and I wondered what they would be like. But I already had a ton of books so I didn't pick one up. But I am curious. What kind of sexytimes are Amish sexytimes? Maybe I don't really want to know. Or maybe I already know - likely it's not too steamy. My friend who lives in Cleveland mentioned the meteor yesterday - wow! That's not something you expect every day (or any day, really).
ReplyDeleteLOL, no my sister-in-law is not a pothead, but she does teach 5th grade, so she probably needs to be! I agree that the scents are very similar at times. I've never read one of those Amish books, but they are all over my library! Maybe because Ohio Amish Country is only a little over an hour away? I do have friends who are fascinated by the Amish. The meteor was really something! Between the Northern Lights and the solar eclipse a few years back, we've had a lot of astronomy-related events here.
DeleteThat first photo of the bag with Pepé Le Pew not only made me chuckle, but it also made me remember how when I was a kid, that cartoon was one of my favorites. I loved when he romantically spoke in French.
ReplyDeleteAnd OMG, can I just tell you HOW MANY pieces of junk mail I get just like the one you shared? Half the time when I open my mailbox, I end up immediately throwing all the "you're getting old now" junk mail into the garbage. And now that I'm 70, I'm getting junk mail about life insurance and choosing the right cemetery plot. LOL!
Like you, I immediately thought, "What does that worm bumper sticker even mean?!?"
"The weather has been bipolar lately. 60-degree weather and the chance of snow?" ---- same here. And I keep hearing so many people saying the same thing. Yesterday, it was unbelievable warm (81 degrees) for this time of year. And yet today, the temps went back down into the low 30s.
Amazing about that owl on your neighbors car!
I love to shop at a K-Beauty Outlet store here in Philly, and you're right. Their hand creams and body creams smell fabulous. And not at all over-powering.
And that is so cool about experiencing your first meteor!!!!!
Happy Wednesday, my friend! Enjoyed this post!!! X
Hi Ron! Isn't Pepe cute? I liked him too, as a kid. The junk mail is insane and now I get both of my parents' junk because I had to forward my mom's mail here when I moved her to assisted living. I keep emailing these companies to ask them to take them off their mailing list, as they are deceased. But yes, the amount of retirement and AARP crap is nuts!
DeleteIt was so nice here on Sunday afternoon that we were able to wear shorts. Then we had snow covering the ground by Tuesday morning. So, it may be coming your way. That's great that you shop at K-Beauty Outlet. Aren't the Asian beauty products amazing? I agree, lovely scents, but not overpowering.
I wanted to tell you that I think about you all the time and miss your posts. I hope you are doing well and enjoying life. I appreciate you still reading my blog. XO
Aw...thank you for your sweet words. Yes, I'm still reading and commenting on the blogs I follow, I'm just not posting on my own. I began to get tired of hearing my own voice. Perhaps one day I'll get inspired about posting again, but I just needed to take a break. And yup, I will continue to read and comment on your blog. You can count on that! X
DeleteThanks so much, Ron!
DeleteThe Amish Stud - I'm dying. I cannot believe someone likes skunk smell. That's crazy IMO. What the what with the big foot sightings. The logs out your window really do look like people.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe it when I turned on my Roku and saw the ad for the Amish Stud. Too weird! I don't know what's going on with Bigfoot, but it's over near Kent State, so maybe everyone is high? LOL!
DeleteYou come across some truly weird and random things!
ReplyDeleteThe emotional support ice cream is really cute, though.
We're also dealing with bipolar weather. We had to run the air conditioner during the day on Sunday, and we had snow on Monday night. It's crazy!
I hate it when it snows right after having a beautiful day. It's like we're being punished!
DeleteI have to wonder, does the Aunt love the smell of skunk, or the smell of Mary Jane? 🤣
ReplyDeleteA worm blessing and mail sent to MAN. What is happening in Ohio?
I think I know why the national news isn't covering the Big Foot sightings; those wouldn't incite anger and more propaganda!
Goodness, can you imagine when we used to use those 'hand dryers' in the bathrooms? Gives me the icks.
Rain Alley. WHAT EXACTLY DOES THAT SMELL LIKE?
I've been in my fair share of Sprinter Vans and nothing good ever happens in there! 😅 Ok, maybe there is some good laughing happening...probably should blame that on the skunk.
Leave the darn Amish alone!
So, it was really a meteor that you heard? WOW!
Nope, she has loved skunk smell since childhood! She was a middle child, so that might explain some things :) I think you are absolutely right about the lack of Bigfoot news! Though of course, it's heavy in the conspiracy circles.
DeleteI cannot describe the Rain Alley; just that it smells really pleasant (NOT like skunk!) Maybe like a tiny hint of Lily of the Valley?
I think I was possibly in a Sprinter van when we did a rain forest hike in Maui. And the funny thing was, the guide was double checking that we were all physically fit, but then one of the people said they just had knee surgery or something like that, and the guide kicked them out of that van, lickety-split! I always thought that must have been embarrassing!
And yes, there are videos of the meteor. A school bus garage caught some great footage on its security camera.
I couldn't tell you if I also like the scent of skunks as I have no sense of smell. I suspect it's a scent I can live without! I didn't know I could be blessed by a worm. I must track down this talented worm and ginger up my life. And I would also have a fright if I found an owl on my car, however harmless it might be.
ReplyDeleteIt must be difficult to enjoy food without a sense of smell, but lucky when a skunk is around. That owl is definitely intimidating looking.
DeleteOh I enjoy the taste of food, without needing to smell it. But I would be nonplussed if my sense of taste also went.
DeleteI'm glad you can still enjoy smell as I've always heard taste and smell are linked.
DeleteYou sure the sonic boom wasn't Bigfoot trampling around? I know they SAY it was a meteor, but I'm skeptical. Sounds like a typical government conspiracy to me!
ReplyDeleteYou know, the best-smelling bars of soap I ever used came from Chinatown in San Francisco. I have never been able to find that scent elsewhere. I guess I need to make friends with your DIL.
And I will take temperatures ending in 8, but I am NOT ready for 80+ degrees. Too warm for my blood!
There are definitely a lot of conspiracy theories going on right now. I love that you found good smelling soaps in Chinatown! But BOO on not wanting 80 degrees!
DeleteThat meteor! I thought for sure someone's house blew up from a gas leak or something. I did NOT expect that in NEO, and on St. Patrick's Day!
ReplyDeleteThat whole Bigfoot thing had me rolling my eyes so far back that I could see behind me. I saw it on the news and wondered if they mistakenly aired an April Fool's segment.
It was crazy loud, wasn't it? A strange St. Patrick's Day, for sure! Maybe the Loch Ness Monster will appear in Lake Erie soon?
DeleteBijoux, I always enjoy your “finds” on Wacky Wednesday because they go to show that life is very strange sometimes and the unusual or oddities are all around. Nice to see skunks do get some likes. The owl in the car top would have startled me. There have been birds in the underground parking here but never one like that. Bigfoot sightings in Ohio was news to me.
ReplyDeleteThe media is keeping Bigfoot under wraps :) Seeing an owl on my car would scare me, for sure!
DeleteQuite a selection here for us ...
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've come across anyone liking the smell of skunk ... however, that bag looks quite cute!
The meteor made it onto our UK news today, along with the coming Artemis (April) Rocket launch.
Whatever your plans are for the coming weekend, I hope it's a good one.
All the best Jan
Thank you, Jan. My husband and I are going to walk around an outdoor mall today while our Middle Child is at a baby shower near there. I hope the sun makes an appearance! Enjoy yourself today.
DeleteI can't imagine enjoying the smell of skunk! The skunk would not be happy to hear this! I love that emotional support ice cream. I need that! I love that owl sitting on the car picture too! We rarely see them here but do occasionally hear them!
ReplyDeleteThe sister-in-law who likes skunks also likes other strange things. She's the middle child of five, if that tells you anything :)
DeleteWow, you heard that meteor sonic boom?! That made national news, even though Bigfoot didn't. (Which is a darn shame).
ReplyDeleteThat is one nervy owl you've for there. What a hoot! Maybe he'll find another neighborhood soon. And let's hope no skunks take his place.
They made a movie out of Amish Stud?! Can't wait to see it, but I'm sure the book is better. I wonder if the Amish stud could use a vintage towel dispenser...
Awesome post, Bijoux!
It was very loud! We thought it was either an explosion or thunder. Our resident owl has been hanging around here for many years. He or she must have a mate, but we've never seen more than one of them. I had never heard of Eli Weaver (Amish Stud) but my follower Lori knew who he was.
DeleteNow if someone could just snap a clear picture of bigfoot that would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the photos always seem blurry or clearly someone in a costume.
DeleteNothing wakes you up faster than the sudden realization that you’re downwind from a skunk! It sounds like the local wildlife is officially throwing a spring 'welcome back' party, whether you’re invited or not. Glad you made it home scent-free!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a weird start to Spring, but I'm here for it!
DeleteMy best friend loves the smell of skunk. She says it's because she smokes weed to help with her ADHD and anxiety and it's a comforting scent. I personally can't stand the smell of skunk or weed.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is so stupid here too. Today I wore shorts outside to do yard work. Tomorrow I'll be bundled up in thick clothing to take the dog for a walk. I also want the temps to start with a 7 or an 8 before I'm happy.
I would be giddy if an owl visited me that close. I do hear them in the summer, but only for a bit at night. I did have a hawk perch on our balcony railing. I think it was hunting my indoor cats through the window LOL.
Another skunk lover! Also, thank you for saying you like temps to start with a 7 or 8 because I can't believe how many people complain about the heat. I am always cold, even in the summer, due to the AC that's blasted everywhere I go. It irritates the crap out of me to always have to bring a coat or sweater to stores, restaurants, etc.!!!
DeleteThat hawk peeping in your windows freaks me out!
Okay, so what's the deal with the meteor? I'm intrigued. The loud noise was it blowing up? I know nothing about these things.
DeleteI want the emotional support ice cream! Rain alley--ha! The blue towel roll thing--gross! Shoot, other stuff made me laugh, but I forget now. This was so entertaining!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think when the meteor hits a certain part of the 'atmosphere' it makes that noise? I can't really remember. Science was never my forte.
DeleteI had heard that they burn up. Go, atmosphere! Neat that they make that noise. Cool you got to experience it!
